GMS engines what happened?
Man I am gone from RC for 2-3 years and now can no longer find anything for a GMS engine I have. I love this engine and was wondering if anyone knows anything about where to get parts for GMS engines? Tower no longer has squat for them.
thanks

Well it has come up before from time to time. Here is one thread for example: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/glow...s-engines.html

looking at the date on that thread looks like gms engines have been dead for a while now. Man how fast things have changed in the rc hobby in a few short years.
I looked at hobby king and they got cheap enough glow engines its not even worth buying parts for what i got I dont think. to bad the gms engine was a real screamer.

the gms line of engines stopped long ago. leaving a bunch of modelers who bought will no information on them and no parts either. some were good and some bad. many people had the gms .47 two stroke. one of the worst running engines ever. many people threw them in the junk, because of the headaches trying to get them running............me included................RON

The GMS 1.20 engines I played with all had problems with their carburetors. When I used a different carb then the engines ran fine then. The Remote needle valve tended to let bubbles form in the fuel line to the carb causing the mixture control to become useless. I assume the other GMS engines tended to be a mixed bag because of bad carbs on them.

they did have bad carbs. i think the bigger ones ran better though. i replaced mine with an os carb and different plugs ,but still ran the same. for some reason it would not hold a needle setting. the mufflers were very good sort of like what performance specialties makes. putting this.47 muffler on a .46 fx motor made a difference of 1000 -1500rpm on top..................RON

Really i find that hard to believe. My .47 runs better and pulls harder than my os did. To me it is a very trouble free and excellent engine and i have been completly happy with it
