Saito twin timing?
Hi there,
I just started to assemble the Saito 300 twin and noticed the lobes are placed at different angles in the left camgear and in the right one. Now I am in doubt because I used to think they must be both the same angle. Can someone clear out this to me please?

My Feedback: (16)
The cam timing is only slightly different from left to right. The reason the cam lobe spacing is so different is because of the angle that the cam followers are contacting the cam.
The cam for the right cylinder is the same as the Saito 150/180. The intake lobe is towards the gear. But on the left cylinder the exhaust lobe is towards the gear.
It gets real confusing. You caused me to go back and look at various Clarence Lee reviews of Saito engines, and I got even more confused because he had different readings for different size Saito engines that I know use the same cam.

Thank you, your explanation about followers angle cleared things a little for me. At this time I have the engine in my hands turning prop over and.. yes I think valve overlap is a bit bigger on the right cylinder.
