Default Saito 100ti - User reports?

Hi Guys,

I am gathering parts of a 63inch ws Fiat G55 project that I think will come in around 9lbs and am narrowing down my engine choices.

Can anyone flying the 100ti give me real data on it's performance? I've watched all the videos and read every post I can find on it but can't find any reports of props and rpms.

So many of the videos just say it's the 100ti with no other info and a few tell you the model, but that's about it.

From what I can gather, it seems to be equivalent to a .80 or .90 in real performance?

Anyone have any Test data like rpm for a given prop?

Or performance on 30% nitro?

Any 3 blade info ?

Thanks for any help. The sound of the 100ti is so awesome I would love use it.

My other choice is narrowing down to a Laser. The Laser would give me the power and reliability with no issues.

But the sound of the 100ti keeps me coming back to it.....

Hey Joe
I have flown with saito 100TI for many years, I like it a lot.
The first sat in a midwest PT17 and in a DHchipmuck.
I use APC 14x8 or 15x6 RPM about 8000 with 15% nitro.

The engine is stronger than you think, I am satisfied with it

Hi Lars !!

I've watched your videos over and over!! Can you tell me about the weight of your planes?

The Chipmunk looks to be close to my project. What size is it?

Do you think the 100ti would be good for a 63in ws warbird? I'm thinking if I can end up about 9lbs I'd be ok but once I get over 10+lbs it might be a little much??

Does this sound about right?

Sorry to be a pest.

Chip Munck weighs 4.2 kg, so I think you can can go for Saito 100TI

Hope we get to see the video later on the plane, good luck

Hey Guys,

I am running in the Saito and it's very cool....

You can see the build thread here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1359588

I played with a Uniflow Fuel tank set up and went back to a standard 2 line tank.

Here is a very short video of it running today and it now has about 6-7 tanks through it....

Currently it's spinning a 14x7 and I'll got to the 14x8 once it has a little more time on it.

I have a Saito 90TS. I figure it has at least as much power as my O.S. FS70 Surpass. So I'd expect that the Saito 100 would be at least as powerful as a 90 4 stroke single.

If you like the sound you should buy the engine. You won't regret spending the extra money every time you look at it.

Remember that most of the time, your model will NOT be flying!

Hi 706jim.

The 90TS is a cool engine. I do like the sound and I already have the 100Ti. That's mine in the video....

Not sure what you mean about the plane spending most of it's time on the ground?

My next cool project uses a OS 320FF that has been modified and set up by Ray English. That will be fun !!

We take our models out on occasion and fly them weather permitting. But most of the time your plane is sitting in your shop awaiting the next time out. As an example I own a Sig Cub powered by the O.S. 240 Pegasus. I built it in 1989 and it may have flown a total of two or three hours in total. So, a pretty low percentage!
But when I look at it I see that beautiful four cylinder rather than an ugly Quadra which would happily fly the plane just as well albeit with a lot more vibration.
When you spend a lot of time making the perfect model it deserves an appropriate engine IMO.

Try the following link, it is on the list of engine tests provided some time ago by Downunder
http://sceptreflight.net/Model%20Eng...20FA-100T.html
I have one and it's quite a lot heavier than a single 91 or 100 and not as powerful but it is very well made.
The other engines were also tested, it's all there foryour reference.

Thanks prigai,

I didn't see my engine on the list. I'll report more as I continue to run it in and fly it.

They have it's big brother http://sceptreflight.net/Model%20Eng...0FA-200Ti.html

Hey Guys,

Here's the Saito 100Ti in it's home doing engine type things..... lol

Last night was the maiden of my Fiat G-55 with the 100Ti turning 8,600rpm tuned to 8,400rpm on an APC 14x8 using 30% CoolPower.

I have 2 SwitchGlow Pro Glow Drivers on board triggered by the Throttle Stick at less than 1/4 throttle or by Switches on the Tx for all on or all off....

It's good but not overpowered on a 11.75lb plane. Pitch Speeds are from 63 - 65 mph ish. It'll get better as it breaks in more. Flys great !!

Thanks to everyone for your help here. Here's the video.

Hi Linkan2,

Oh Man..... Sorry to hear that.... That plane was my go to video for inspiration as I built the Fiat.

Keep posting updates on your engine rebuild and whatever you put it into. There's not a lot of info on the 100Ti and the more we post the better.

Talk to you soon.
