I've burned 2-3 gallons this summer, but half of it was attempting to break in a Fox twin cylinder engine. You appreciate the fuel economy of a .40 a LOT more after running this thing.. LoL.

Pretty much through a gallon this year. Mostly .06 and .15 size, but a few .46, .40 and .25 size and only one on the .91 Surpass. That one took a while to fill up. The guys at the field were wondering when the .06 would ever come down with the 2 oz tank. Must have been over 15 minutes, I only went full throttle for little spurts because I would run out of field if I tried anything like a loop or whatever.

I did fly my Irvine 72 powered Escapade 60 a few times. It sips fuel in relation to its displacement though.

I added some engines to my collection recently, 3 - Enya .15-IV's, a Fox .40bb, and a Fox .50bb.

One of the Enyas is new, one has been run but only for a few minutes if even that and the last one is new. Just for the heck of it I might rig a test bed for all three and see if I can run all three at the same time. I'll bet it would sound pretty neat. Ones great, 3 has to be terrific, right?

Went thru 3/4 of a gallon last weekend. My 61 Evo in my p51 sportster likes fuel but I am running it rich as it only has 4 flights on it . I used an Evo pitts style muffler and actually bent the tubes in a slow turn so it blow almost straight down. So all the mess is mainly on the back end if the fuse and the tail feathers. Makes it a little easier to clean up all the excess oil.

Hey!I need to sign-up to this brotherhood. I've got Cox( Thimble Drome) , WenMac 049's , K&B, HP, Enya, and a few others. Always wanted to do a inventory, this might get me to it!, BTW, as I was typing this my wife wanted to know what I was doing. I told her I was joining the Glowhead Brotherhood. She replies "is that a group for bald guys?"

just re-read my previous post. what I was asking about in the second part was do any of you have or know of plans for a good , effective DIY onboard glow plug driver. one that can be controlled by an open channel ,then slaved to the throttle channel. I fly with a hitec araura 9 , and sometimes a Dx6i. either of wich I can do this with in their respective mix menues. thanks in advance and thanks for welcoming to the brotherhood

I use one from electrodynam that works really well. No issues other than had to replace the battery after a few years. But the price is good, no complaints.

Yeah, and it's destined for my buddy's collection too. Nice engine. Was very very mucky inside. Was run shortly and put away for a LONG time. Has not been run yet, I tore it down and soaked everything to remove the oil sludge and grime. It's now clean and oiled and in a ziplock bag in its box.

I was surprised to get TWO Fox ABC engines in a week. Kinda surprised there's no pinch in either of them.

They're all that way. Fox would essentially send their engines out broke in or nearly so. My .40 is tighter than the .46, but they will both be fine runners.

Ran my C case .40 with lapped piston and TT pro .46 muffler today. 13,800rpm peak on a 10x5 APC on 80/20 FAI.

Thought I'd tell y'all about a "Franken-Tigre" I made from junk parts. I am the club "Engine Guy" and, a lot of times, members give me broken engines, parts, etc. to put in the spares bin. Recently, one fellow had a bag of junk which included a ST .45 ABC short block - no carb, muffler, drive parts, etc. I cleaned it up and thought it seemed OK compression-wise, so I bought new bearings and installed them. My junk box yielded two carbs that produced one good one and an older "stinger" type muffler. I had to buy the exhaust manifold piece, though. For a total expenditure of about $14.00, I was pleasantly surprised! On the test stand with an APC 10x7 and 5% fuel, "Frankie" turns 15,400 RPM and will idle down to under 3000. Wow! It is easily the best of my three 45s.
Sometimes you get lucky!

Good for you. I'm excited to see what I'll get tomorrow. It's our club swap meet / fun fly. An older guy was listing off all of his old " junk" that he will be bringing, and somewhere in that list he said he had an old four stroke, not sure who made it, somewhere around a 56 size. He says it's seized and only wanted $5 for it. So I whipped out a five spot right there and handed it to him. He said, don't you at least want to see it first? Heck no, for five bucks, I could care less. I'll bet if you give me a day I'll have it purring like a kitten. If not, I'll have parts. If not, oh well.

I am scheduled to be in the combat event in this years air show and I decided to use my old Escapade, then I realized I had installed my amazing OS45FSR on it recently !! Oh my that will not do!!! I will not risk my beautiful 45FSR in combat, so I swapped it out for a very well used Evolution 46 , it has new bearings and it runs decent , it cost me nothing. I think I will try running it with a cold plug and some 30% nitro just to see if I can get 100mph out of the Escapade.
