FSR (.40) in a combat plane, no problem. Just flew it last week. Not in a match of course. Got a matching plane with a TT Pro.40 to try out still, just to compare motors

This little jewel came in the mail today. NIB Webra Speed 50. Going to put it in a 40 size Kaos. I'm excited.
I have to sit on my hands to keep from clapping

I love my glow engines...

Enya 09 III, 09 IV, 15 III, 15 IV, 19 IV, 19 V, 40bbss, 60 II, 60 III; 41-4C
Irvine 2x36; 2x39
K&B Sportster 20, 28
Como 29
ST 25S
OS 10, 15, 20, 25 various types, 40 FSR, 26 FS, 40 FS, 52 FS, 70 FS, 81 FS, 90 FS, 95V FS
Saito 30, 40 Mk III, 40a, 50, 62a
TT 18, 42

Can't fly 'em all, can't part with them either! All excellent runners. If something gives me too much trouble I sell or give it away. I always admit when I can't get one dialed in. There's always someone who is sure he can, at the right price. Maybe he can and more power to him. The ones I keep are the ones I can pull out of a drawer, stick on a plane, and go flying. Not tempted by electric at all, though I can understand why people like it.

Glow is just fun. I just picked up an enya 15 an OS 70 surpass and an enya 90 4C today for $30. All seem to be pretty old and need love. Sounds fun.

Gotta love those great deals! The Dykes ringed Irvine .25 Mk II, Fox .19RC, and the Fox .46BBRC ABC I got all NIB for $50 from an estate sale. I mean, $10 for an Irvine .25 almost pristine? Duh!

Need to get some Fox MkX Carburetors myself. The EZ adjust carb needs to be switched with a 2-needle carb. Or I need an adapter to use a SuperTigre carb. A new carb will cost more than the engine did.

I doubt it. SIG was selling it for $23/gal and last I checked it went up to $38/gal.

I refuse to risk the life of my beautiful OS45FSR on the front of a combat plane, it could get dented or some such nonsense. Better to use a cheap beat up Evolution 46.

Mine isn't beautiful, but I have a spare parts motor if I need it. I have been cleaning the beaters up with the Dawn Power Dissolver, and they come up real nice unless they are cracked or damaged or bent or whatever. Had a couple of real turds for $5 that I didn't even want to touch and they came up nice.

It is hard to find, I got mine in Kissimme Fla at a grocery Walmart. Other Walmarts don't seem to carry it. I like the Dawn stuff because you don't have to disassemble the motor unless you really want to. The other crockpot antifreeze method works just as well, but the plastics should be removed. I have even left the motor in a plane to clean it. Call me lazy, I say efficient. I scrub the motors a bit with the dollar store toothbrushes that are brass on one side and nylon bristles on the other being careful to not splash it in my eyes. Safety forced.

I use Dawn Power Dissolver too, except I just use old used toothbrushes with nylon bristles. I don't get too carried away because I'm gonna get it all slimed up again anyway..

I got my bottle at Walmart as well, but I don't recall if it were a "Super" Walmart (grocery) or not. I haven't met an engine that needed anything harsher than that. Some of my engines with barstock heads have gotten some slight surface corrosion from sitting, the DPD does not remove this. I've had to polish that stuff off with a buffing wheel and compound. Any other gunk comes off easily.

S&W sells castor. Last time I bought some it was about $8 /quart, but that was around 3 years ago.

I want in! I'm a glow engine fanatic, I have 15% Wildcat coursing through my veins.
My favorite engines are Saito, OS, and Norvel, and I have too many to list. In fact I
just picked up several Magnums from someone getting out of glow, a few still in the
box.
BTW There is one Walmart in my area that carries Power Disolve, been using it for years.
I just got a 16oc botte of Klotz Benol caster at the LHS for $9.50, sheesh. I'm going to check
the drug stores to see if I can find it cheaper.
I've been off of RCU for a while and I come back to find this terrific group.

I will not risk my beautiful 45FSR in combat, so I swapped it out for a very well used Evolution 46 , it has new bearings and it runs decent , it cost me nothing. I think I will try running it with a cold plug and some 30% nitro just to see if I can get 100mph out of the Escapade.
I have an Escapade with my best AX .46 on it with an APC 11X6. Thinking about going to a 10X7 for a little more speed. I do have an FX .40 I could swap in.

http://splube.com/otherapplications.html

S&W the S is Stan...and he told me the W stands for Wife...

I don't see it listed, but I think if anyone that might be interested would give 'em a call, you could probably get Castor?

The std. sport fuel our club has is the Avenger synthetic with a few % of castor...

FWIW if any of yaz remember "fuelman" he was working with Stan for a while, back...oh probably about a decade or so ago IIRC...with a "special oil"...

I am not 100% positive about this, and it's been a few years since I spoke w/ anyone down there in N.J. but I have a suspicion that "special oil" might be (or might have been) similar to that P O E type oil that the Europeans like to talk about, and we have a hard time getting???

You guys that all requested to join the brother hood, consider it done. Only thing is, I need a couple of hours to figure out who gets what number. I'm not sure how to make a roster that can be updated so I don't have to keep reading back through countless pages to figure it out. This is the OS 70 Surpass I picked up for $5. Not sure if it ever even broke it. Doesn't look like it. But it's many years old and was a bear to get it moving again, but it will be screaming in no time.

My special oil is Castor bean oil. I use a gallon to a gallon and a half a season. It's all I use and will likely continue to do so unless the European stuff drops in price by half of better. :X

The $5 OS 70 runs like a top. Figured it would. I honestly don't think it was broken in. The top of the piston and cylinder walls were shiny clean along with the valves. I can tell it has been started, but probably never flown. Good score.

Speaking of 70Surpassessess I finally found a home for mine. I picked up a Sukhoi 31 of unknown lineage from a guy wanting to get rid of it for peanuts. Its almost completely built except for fuel tank and motor mount. Even has some really nice digital servos.
