Thanks Mr Cox, I'd just come to that conclusion myself. I think it is a Space Bug with the tank removed.

Sure will, as soon as I get home. Right now I'm at the field burning some nitro. Ooooohhhh that smell.

You have double the time I do. Kudos! Love the smell of nitro in the morning.

I'm oiling engines for storage today. I cleaned several up with Dawn Power Dissolver to make them pretty outside, just need to keep them pretty inside. Still scouring the Internet for a carb for my Enya .15-IV for my hovercraft project. I just can't bring myself to spending more for a carb than I spent on the engine itself.

Did you look in the "box-o-stuff" I sent you? I'm pretty sure I put a couple Enya carburetors in there...

There are several Enya carbs in there, but they're all too large for the .15.

Bad PHP code. Something else (among many other things) the IB programmers need to work on. It should read [.color=Red] text [./color] minus the periods. I used red as an example.

Sounds like Chinese to me. Lol. I didn't get to burn as much nitro today as I wanted to. My OS 55 AX wasn't running for crap. Last I ran it I lawn darted it into the soft dirt at the edge of a corn field. I cleaned it out pretty good, but possibly not good enough. I'll give it the glow head treatment and it should run fine. Always was a great engine for me. Twill be again. Could also be tank placement. I couldn't quite get it inline with the carb. I'll clean it and throw it on the bench. Either way, it was good to coat my hands with glow fuel. They needed it.

I've got a question . I broke down my recently buried OS 55 AX for a thorough cleaning of the glow head variety. I don't really see a need to remove the crank and replace the bearings. Both front and rear feel brand new still. Engine only has maybe 50 flights. Everything looks perfect. Piston, sleeve, the whole 9. All looks good. My question is, being that I never did this before without removing the crank, what's a good way to clean inside without destroying the bearings? Usually I'd give it a good bath in dawn power dissolver, but not sure if that would affect the bearings or not. Would it?

If you don't want to remove the crank and bearings I would recommend cleaning it out with raw glow fuel and then use a can of compressed air to dry it.

I can do that. Thanks. I'm thinking I may have found the cause of the poor running. All four screws on top of the cylinder were barely hand tight. That would cause loss of compression, no?

Yes maybe a bit. I would clean the combustion chamber on the head while it is off, and spin the crank to see if the threads got bent in the crash, and it is running free. When I have it down that far, I take some acetone (maybe the DawnPD even) and a scotchbrite pad on the cylinder and maybe a bit on the piston (and head) to get the varnish off. Then clean with fuel, or kerosene, or whatever, and an air gun. Just what I do. If you don't feel safe, then don't bother.

That's pretty much exactly what I did. I have it back together and on the test bench. Just getting ready to put some fuel to it and fire it up. I'll report in a bit.

Well I'm happy with the results. She idled reliably at 1600 and maxed out at 13500 with a MAS 12 x 6 on 10% nitro. I have an APC 11 x 6 that I'll try out, but as far as I'm concerned it can go back in service. Thanks for the help brothers.

That's a nice idle rpm there. How was the transition- crisp?

Transition needs a little tweaking, but definitely reliable. Tad rich on the low.
