When I said the dimple was down I meant it was facing the other side of the engine. I did some research and found there was no gasket on the exploded view, as a trained mechanic I just cant agree with not using a gasket so I made my own. I didn't run the engine very much so I didn't notice how much lube was getting to the cam area. Also I was pre lubing the cam to control the rust . My new one is getting the same treatment until I am sure its broke in well.
I gave my cam plenty of oil on reassembly too, so I guess I'll have to do a bit of running before I can say for sure that my mod worked.
Interesting that the car cam runs the same. It's a different part number so I assume there must be something different about it.
