Default OS air funnel, i.e., velocity stack for OS 95V

The OS 81 comes with a nice "air funnel" (velocity stack" in Saito parlance), but the OS 95V does not have one. It turns out the carbs are essentially the same on the outside, and so I took the air funnel off the 81 and it fit perfectly on the 95V.

They are available separately at Tower, so I will pick up an extra for the 95V. They are right here...

I don't know how much difference it will make, but the Saito version does seem to help give longer runs on those engines. The Saito type are very secure (but you have to get an 'O' ring...why does it not come with it?). The OS type is only held on with a tiny set screw, I might file a flat spot for it, and definitely use thread lock on the set screw.

Question Jim, is the inner diameter of the velocity stack the same as the .95's venturi diameter? In the case of the Saito 1.25 the venturi diameter is slightly larger than the velocity stack's id.

Hobbsy, good question, I didn't think to check. Now that I've checked, all's well; I'm certain they are identical...the ids of the stack, and the 81 & 95V venturies are all the same. I don't have a caliper, but they all seem to be 10 mm, or possible a hair under. I used a compass as a caliper and that's as close as I can get. Also, the butt end of a 3/8 drill bit fit in all three with a bit to spare.

Does the Saito stack reduce the power of the 1.25?

Jim
