Glad you said some there Tim ! I hold myself to somewhat higher standards then riffraff like O.F. F.W.I.W. I have the throttle fully open and control the revs with the H.S. mixture thingy ( I think its called ) to begin with . The amount of fuel they guzzle at this stage is a real eye opener but it gives me the warm and fuzzies . I start to lean it out and warm it up from there . %20 oil at least for run in and then %20 oil there after and %10 nitro is all she gets . I always prelube them and pull the backplate to check for swarf and lube at the same time and saitos are the ducks guts as well as most other manufactures . Cheers the pope

Manufactures specs are often way off, especially if there is any dust in the needle. I always set them much richer than the recommend settings. Yes it may be hard to start, but no damage from being too lean.

I'm gonna stay out of anything Saito from now on. I'd hate to be giving poor advice (or opinion in poor taste). You guys are the experts.

p.s. I had nothing to do with the removed posts.

Anyway I took the engine apart and it is the con rod seized to the crank pin. We'll see what HH has to say about the Saito warranty on this

EBGFLIGHT; the same happened to my Saito during breakin, but I didn't take it apart, I sent it directly back to HH for warranty repair. They covered the repair and sent me back the engine with a note stating that there was flaw with an oil groove in the connecting rod. From what I read later, Saito had a batch of flawed connecting rods that got installed in engines that were later returned by customers who had their engines seize during breakin.

"Edited due to bias"? What the hell does that mean? Edited by whom? I thought censorship was frowned upon here in the good ole US of A.

JP, it was edited by the poster himself, not by Moderators. Hopefully it will pass and we'll all be friends again.

Some of you guys are something else.

I was talking smack about Saito that spurred a few attack posts that were subsequently removed and I didn't want any further BS to ensue. Being I'm biased against Saito engines, I retracted most of what I'd said so the proper authorities could properly advise the OP as to what to make of his .91 that didn't survive break-in.

Sorry i I mudded up this thread. I'll be sure not to let it happen again. Have a great day!

Tim is more of an Enya guy which is all good, I'm the real problem child here, I just ordered an OS .56 with my wife's blessing. Our youngest daughter gave me $300.00 towards it. I'll have to write about it in another more appropriate thread. You be careful and don't drink too much lube. The Saito .56b is about 60 bucks cheaper but I have a .50 and a .62. If I can con another daughter maybe I can get an Enya .53

The Enya 53 is quite difficult to come by now. It took me two years searching for a NIB unit and I finally found it.

No flak, no way Tim, as Dr. Brown said in Back to the Future, "if you're gonna do somethin you might as well do it with some style." Jett's are about as stylish as you can get.
