Saito Engine - Exhaust Seal
Hello,
Several years ago (wow has it been 5 years already) I crashed a Aeroworks YAK 54 90 size QB with a Saito 100 on it. The crash was a total loss for the airframe , but the engine survived with damage. I rebuilt the engine with new pushrods/pushrod covers and a new set of gaskets. The engine runs great (it had been barely broken in before the YAK crash),except exhaust oil leaks from the silencer joint at the engine head. To fix this properly I could have replaced the cylinder assembly at ~ 1/3 of the cost of the engine but chose to just get it back up and running. At this point I'm just completing a kit build 8 ft turbo beaver, and It'll need this engine.
I'm wondering how this joint can be sealed? I've heard that JB weld can be used, but i'm concerned it will get into the intake. How does one prep the metal for JB weld? Will I be able to remove the exhaust pipe without breaking the JB weld off? Is there a better way to seal this up?
Thanks for your help!
Thanks!

Send it to Clarence Lee. He fixes them all the time. He has ads in the back of Model Aviation. He charges $28.50 post paid for Saito over .90 displacement. Send cylinder and include the header pipe with the head. Address is Lee Custom Engines, 10112 Woodward Ave, Sunland, CA 91040. Telephone is 818-352-3766. Turn around is fast.

Hi there from previous people in your position he puts in a brass bush which is threaded to suit your exhaust . Do a search , if you want it fixed with no issues do as advised and send it to him . Ive not read of anyone who was unhappy with his work . Cheers the pope
