OS Engine interchanging parts question
#3
The Heli crank is likely shorter much like the buggy engines since they use a clutch. The port timing and size of the crank inlet may be different between the two also. If the crank has the same bearing journal size, I see no reason why it shouldn't work. Just check the inside diameter of the bearings - if they're the same, the airplane crank should fit the Heli crankcase and bearings and vice versa. Boca Bearings search engine is usually pretty accurate for showing what bearings are in an engine, so it would be easy to compare the two.

"" size of the crank inlet may be different between the two also.""
yes, I was thinking that about an hour after I posted LOL,
I was thinking I could get the Heli Crank to work if I turned a bushing to fit between the Prop nut and the APC prop.
I want to do this for a 46 size scale racing plane, I have searched the Net and people say the Hyper 50 is a real monster in a small, lite plane, even with a stock muffler
thanks for the replies !!
