Skyward 60
Anyone have any experience with one? I understand they were made by Picco and probably work good with a pipe and low nitro. But thats it.

I haven't had one though I've had my eyes out for an unrun one. The ones I'd found were rather spendy. Indeed made by Picco, but I don't know much about them besides that. Seems to have been a pattern engine if that gives you any hints. Picco engines are fine engines.

It is used and a little beat up but smooth and great compression. I paid a stupid low amount for it. I dont want to make you jealous. You can get them new on Ebayge for about $160

I have the Skyward.40 in a Tsunami .40 and it really screams through the air. It is one of my favorite .40 size engines. A little heavy, but its performance is great all the way from one flick starting at an idle to flat out performance. The carbs are quite good, in fact, IMO better than the ones on the Picco. The .60 is the larger brother and if it's anything like the .40, you will be quite pleased with it. The only negative is the muffler. Kinda crappy for an otherwise excellent engine. Most parts are still available too. You can check it out here.

I have a Skyward 80 sold by skyward research and development laboratory in Montreal Canada in the 1990,s I have a Pitts type muffler for it made by Bisson, I never did get it to run right till recently when a friend who is knowledgeable on glow engines set the needles for me. runs and starts good on 10% nitro. BTW it looks like a punched out Picco 60. Jim.

Here's a short Skyward 80 story, a few years ago I thought I had tracked down an 80 Skyward. I called the above mentioned distributor and was told they had an 80 on the shelf. The guy said he'd call me the next day, he called three days later saying that they did not have one. I did have a 40 for a while, they were fine engines.

While checking the Udisco website for parts, I noticed that they have the Skyward .46 engine listed as $36.00 US. I called the guy and he said he had six of them in stock. For around $12.00 postage to Maryland. i may just get one for the heck of it. not sure if it is the Italian one though. Might be taiwanese.
Either way not a terrible buy!

I had a Skyward on a pattern plane, .60. 11X7 prop turned 15,500rpm on the ground. Really moved.
Today, I don't buy anything that parts are hard to come by. A broken needle valve could ground your plane.
Novarossi, the 2017 Skyward. http://www.novarossi.it/2012/index.p...0-cc/r60f.html $109.00. Just something exciting for an incredible price. The glow engine is soon to become obsolete, may as well go out with a bang.
