where can I get small glow engines
I am interested in building some smaller models and am looking for glow engines in the .20 to .30 range. It seems OS no longer makes the .25 AX and saito has nothing in that range either. I know most are building larger ships and electric is an option for the sort of thing I am interested in but I wonder if there is some other manufacturer of these size engines I dont know about. Anyone else flying small glow models?
thanks,

Well, you can watch Ebay for engines.
Enya still sells small engines, you can check their website. Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce
Hobby King appears to still have some small ASP engines too https://hobbyking.com/en_us/gas-glow...___store=en_us

A .25 is a nice size, as is a .15. Standard servos, cheap on fuel, and they can cut through the wind better than smaller glows and leckkies. Don't forget the Norvels. Airplane engines Ask for availability there. I would go ASP .21 , .25 , or .28 and if feeling rich, go Novarossi. There is a lot of used stuff in that size that people run for a few flights, crash, and then quit, or move up in size. I have picked up a lot of .25s lately. OS AX, FX, FSR, LAs (lots of them) GMS, Norvel. Swap meets mostly. I have converted car motors too, although most guys don't have a lathe. You may find an Evolution too, maybe a .36?

The OS 15LA and 25LA are sweet engines. They show up at RC flea markets a lot. I have several.
Older small engines from the pre-muffler era are common and can be had almost for free. But if you need a muffler they are a hassle to convert.

thanks for all the pointers guys. I need to hit some swap meets I guess. I was looking at the asp engines. They are inexpensive. Does anyone have any experience with them? I guess you cant go far wrong at that price. I was also looking at the k and b on the mecoa site I remember them from years ago. They cost a little more but always had a good rep. I have an old os .19 and os .30 but they dont have mufflers. They were the old butterfly back pressure type. Does anyone make mufflers for those old engines?

I have used the ASP and AP .15 and .09 with good results. Some guys have trouble with transition from idle on the bigger ones. It can be fixed with little dabs of silicon caulk at every possible air leak spot like the carb drawbar and where the needle threads in etc.The .46 piston cylinder is often used on the OS FX when their plating peels off, so in many ways they are better. MECOA is sometimes tardy with delivery according to some customers. I have not dealt with them personally though. (I have wanted to) Used OS stuff is ok but check for peeled liners first. I would not get a used ASP only because the newer models are built better and are more modern designs. The old K&B and Fox stuff is just too old of a design especially if they have no muffler or holes to accept them. Headers were available from Macs mufflers to use a pipe, but the owner passed away and Mecoa has the production, so once again it is up in the air.

Small glow engiines
The little ASP .12 glow engine is built like the big ones and punches well above its weight.
I have two.
Unfortunately HK no longer list them but there are several Ebay vendors who sell the range including the .12 new in box for a very reasonable price.

Years ago my friend Hobe had one of those Thunder Tiger 19 rc engines that you use to see advertised for 15 bucks usd. He bought one and found out that the throttle control was in effective. There was no difference between wot and idle. Years later I aquired two .21 TTR car engines and cars. Their cars where junk beyond belief but those two 21's where very powerfull. I got rid of them and replaced them with a OS 21VG and an OS xzb 21 bluehead. These 2 engines put out the same power as a good 61 but they are sweet. I think OS makes the best you can buy today but you will pay for it.

I don't know much about the car engines from OS, but they don't seem to put much effort into their airplane engines anymore, just squeezing out as much money as they possibly can. Once their most stubborn fans give up that will be it for them I guess...

You mean the most stubborn fans that use OS engines regularly and have no issues with them . Or maybe the ones that dont use them but jump on the the skies falling down peeling liner issue . Heck they even prefer asp engines . While I have about 5 asp engines there not up to OS standard . Dont lean on the screws or the Swiss cheese metal will fail . Dodgy bearings , leaky carbs but heck they use real chrome . Theres more to engine than its liner .

The Modern ASP/SC/Magnum carbs rarely give issue and the bearings in all recent engines are of acceptable quality for the purpose.
I pulled apart an old SY .46 (from the very early days of Sanye production) and the bearings were Japanese made NSK. A new Piston and Liner set and at is as good as new.
Original bearings or previously replaced? I don't know.
Many of the ASP's sold in Australia through a certain distributor in the 90's were factory rejects. I won't say any more about that issue as the people concerned are deceased..
