What are your thoughts when smelling glow fuel?
Although I went to gas exclusively I still like the smell of Glow fuel and the memory's it brings back from many years past. Do others have the same memory's, when and what?

I can't say I really smell it, but the high nitro stuff from many moons ago with the propylene oxide smelled nice. Either way is better than gasoline though, even the diesel with the ether smells better than gasoiline. Well maybe not.

Ya, somewhat. There are a lot of two minute flights in an hour. I am sort of glad the rules changed to 10% nitro for the control line speed. Makes things more sane, and they can still go almost 200 mph.

The smell of glow fuel from the 50's is among my favorites. I have long forgotten the ingredient(s) that contributed the distinctive aroma. However, any castor based fuel gets high marks from me. Although I have played with model diesels, I confess not to be a fan of that odor. Oh yes, dope has a smell that produces waves of nostalgia for days gone by. Love it.

There is a therapeutic effect from the smell of glow fuel. Some extra benefit of castor in the exhaust on cold days keeps your hands warm.
Concerning gas exhaust smell, if you use Klotz oil it has a perfumy exhaust smell that makes it tolerable to the senses. I can't say the same for raw gas, but at least the gas exhaust smells nice.

Glow fuel & Nito fumes are very bad for your health....Do not breath them too much at all. Pure gas (rec fuel} is what to use....& and spark ignition is about as reliable as you can get. John

My friend's aunt just died from cancer from working at gas stations. She owned two. Many natives up north sniff gasoline for a cheap buzz. They often die from it. I don't think either fuel should be considered healthy.

Castor smells nice, synthetic burns thy nose. High nitro will burn then owe when burned too, but the oil is the worst IMO. Gasoline is a much stronger carcinogen than glow fuel. I'll never fly gas. Or run r/c surface gas models. Gas in the car and lawnmower only.
Ultimately, glow fuel smells like FUN to me. Gasoline smells like WORK.
