Default OS 40 fsr & OS 40 FP Are the heads the same?

I have a 40 fsr that has a broken fin on the head and I have found a 40 fp parts engine. I was told that the heads are interchangable. Is this correct? Thanks

Hey Flyer,

Yep, same part number for the heads on each engine.

A recent change of opinion.

Our old O.S. Parts book shows that the O.S. Max .40 FP and the O.S. Max .40 FSR engines had the same cylinder head. Yes, the part numbers are exactly the same.

I wouldn't worry about a broken fin, it shows character. Break one on the other side to make it match.

Yep, one broken cylinder head fin won't hurt a thing. Cooling won't be compromised to any extent at all. However, the head should be replaced if you cannot stand the appearance. Burned-on gunk will cause more cooling problems than a broken fin.

So now that it has been established that the heads are interchangeable, can someone tell me what IS the main difference between the FP and FSR versions of the OS 40? Which one is the better engine?

For some reason the links go to the same test, go here and scroll down to OS 40 FSR: http://sceptreflight.com/Model%20Eng...sts/Index.html
