Default Repairing damaged glowplug threads on Saito 150

I confess...I cross-threaded the hard-to-get-at glow plug on one of my Saitos! I sent the engine off to Horizon Hobby for repair and discovered they no longer do such repairs. Does anyone make a helicoil-type of device or, have any suggestion as to how I can get the engine back into service again? Thanks. Jerry S.

If you have never used a thread repair like timeserts of helicoil find someone who has and pay the price to repair. If you do it wrong you only make it worse.

Look up Clarence Lee with a web search. He does or at least did do them.

If he is no longer doing it and only if PM me I will do it. I don't want to cut into his business if he is still doing the work.

My understanding is that Clarence Lee passed away some time ago. However, the company, Lee Custom Engines is still in business. I just had an engine head repaired two weeks ago. Address, costs, etc., are in an Advert in the back pages of Model Airplane News.

I spoke with his wife a couple months ago. At that time, he was still doing the repairs.

I do the repairs but only for locals. As long as Mr Lee is still doing plug hole repairs, I won't be doing them for others.

Mr. Clarence Lee is the man. And a quick turn around too. He charges a bit more for disassembly but worth it has he knows what he is doing.

I think the Timesert starter kit is about $100 to get the basic starter package.

If you want to pay shipping, I can loan you one of my Helicoil 1/4 - 32 kits.

Jesse, I'm in your debt for putting me on to these Timesert products and... even more so for offering the loan of one of your sets! I see that they can be had on eBay. Between another clumsy-fingered buddy and me, we'll order one. Thanks again! Jerry S
