Default reliable and powerful .45-.50

Im looking for an engine to put into a 40 size pattern type plane. I want the plane to move along at a nice clip and dont want to dead stick it in all the time. My first thought was a 50sx but it seems that there are some that are better and cheaper. Price is part of it though so I dont think ill be in the market for a jett 50. (I WISH)

The Magnum XLS 52 2 stroke is a nice engine. Another is the Irvine 52.

Enjoy,

Jim

For < $100 I say TT Pro-46
For just over $100 I say Irvine-53
For a little more the YS-45/ MVVS-49 and Webra-50 are great engines---

I agree with you, ripzone.
I'm talking only about this engine. No fault with others brands or engines.
Last week i finish break-in of my 46AX
Yesterday i measured with tach:
smooth transition, idle, plenty of power (turn APC 10x6 at 13.8k - 10% nitro 18% klotz STP) and very reliable.Very low noise with standard (P-BOX) muffler but heavier than older.
About 600 rpm more with Tower muffler.
With needles set-up properly, you can be amazed of throttle response: superb and instantly.

Great engine.

Another vote for the TT.46
I have one in my GP RV-4 and I would not hesitate in getting another.

MVVS .49. Best in the class (unless you want to spend Jett money!)

Super Tigre g-51, cheap and powerful.

Mine swing 12x4 and 12x6 with great throttle response, no problem with parts and service and overall performance is great.

The weight is like 45-46 engine but more power.

If you don't mind breaking in an engine with care and want an engine you can leave to your grandkids and exceptional warranty and parts support, go with one of the Enya 50's. I got the SS and the CX. Both are excellent engines. Not the Jett's or YS's in performance but its certainly equal to the Irvine 53 and OS 50 size engines.

Default SO...you want a reliable and powerful .45-.50...

...that leaves few choices.

Yea, I know you claim to be a 'poor boy'.

Step up to the plate and buy the Jett .50 you KNOW you WANT.

It doesn't get any better than that.
