Default .46 LA Help

Hye guys,

Can't seem to get my LA to idle good on my voyager. is it because of the fact its mounted upside down? i know LA sux but it should idle yes? any help would be good

I've never had much luck getting an inverted engine to idle as well as an upright or side-mounted one.

I think the problem may be associated with the very high levels of oil we run in our fuel. It could be that a small amount of unburnt oil begins to pool in the head and cools the plug or stops it reacting with the methanol so attempts to get a low/steady idle usually end up in the engine slowing and stopping -- regardless of what you do with the low-speed needle.

I've seen a few folks solve this problem by using an onboard glowplug battery that is switched in as the throttle is reduced. That approach seems to work very well.

It may be because the carb. is lower than the centerline of the tank-

I too had this problem with a .46 LA running inverted. Switching to a hotter glow plug did the trick. As XJet mentioned, the unburnt oil cools the plug causing poor idle / stalling.

I was running an OS#8 plug and switched to an OS#A3 which solved all my problems.

What are using this innocent little engine for?
All my inverted 2 strokes have F plugs, no problems!

i use A3 plugs only...hmmm anyone recommecnd a switch?
