Default Magnum 120FS prop question

Hi Guys,
I have just installed this engine in 9lb fun fly to replace YS110FZ, which drives mad when
needing adjustment every time at the field. I know that those two do not compare, but
I want to test abilities of Magnum and so far they are not very impresive. After two gallons of
10% fuel through it, engine's running incl. transition is smooth, but neither on APC 15X8 nor
16X8 performs well vertically. Perhaps different prop will help.
Thanks in advance.

Mine turns a 15-8 at 9000. I'm a sport flyer and I get along just fine with that.

For people wanting vertical performance, first of all, you need to get the RPM up around 10,000. Also, the tend to use a large diameter - low pitch prop.

To match your plane exactly, you may need to use several different sizes to find the one you like best?

I would start by trying to find a 15-6 APC.

Enjoy,

Jim

The 15x8 or 16x6 are the right props for the OS1.20FS. I get 9k on 15% nitro with either of these props. 16x8 is too much prop for the OS1.20.

Thanks guys.
I have at the moment APC 15x4W to try , but I think it is not enugh prop for
Magnum. I will get 15X6 and also try 15% nitro.

I do not think that a 15x6 is enough prop try a 16x6 I think that is the smallest prop I would use I liked a 15x8 on my os 120 surpass E (no pump) a 16x8 was a dog Now I have a OS 120 SP (supercharged) that loves a 16x8 on powermaster 20x20 it turns at 9400 RPM and will take a 12.5 lbs cap 232 strait up also I was wondering why you have to be at 10,000 rpm for vertical performance ?????
