Default Enya 90 four stroke repair

I have an Enya 90 four stroke that looks brand new. Tried to start it and it sounds and feels like there is no compression. Took off valve cover and only one valve goes up and down but barely. It may have been a 1980's engine. Would appreciate information on where I can send this engine in for repair.
Thanks.
Matt

Default Tony Stillman MAY be of help...

Dear MattG:

The PIPE here again...Radio South USED to do engine repairs, as they did the bearing replacement in my early-1980s vintage "pre-Surpass" OS FS-40 four stroke (I got the bearings from Boca Bearings, and sent them with the engine to Tony)early in 2003...they don't SEEM to be listing engine repairs on their website at http://www.radiosouthrc.com/ "currently" but try giving them a call during the weekdays...they very well COULD still be doing engine repairs, even though it's not currently mentioned at their site!

Hope you can get your Enya 90 "mill" running like a Seiko watch before too long...

Yours Sincerely,

The PIPE!

I suspect that one of the pushrods is out of the socket in the bottom of the pushrod tube or under the rocker arm, it's easy to fix. Just push down on the valve end of the offending rocker arm and put the pushrod back in its socket. If that's the problem.

And if it really is a new engine, there is nothing to be repaired.
It may be just insufficient lubricant around the OHV that prevents
from full moving in spite that the cams move.
That causes air leak from the cylinder.
I should say adding a lubricant or a few fuel may solve the problem.

Tom, Hobbsy, Tsutomu Mabuchi, Lew,
Thanks to all for the advice. I kept working to free pushrods and they finally started moving. Got the igniter on it and it purred like a kitten. Will take it outdoors to break in.

Good job. The reason I mentioned the pushrod was because when I recieved a new Saito 100 several months ago the intake pushrod was out of its socket at the rocker arm. I am just glad I check the valve lash on all new engines.

Dear MattG and Fellow Four Stroke Lovers:

The PIPE Here once again...and the modeler who goes by the "handle" of "ggn" here at RCU is looking for an Enya 90-4C four stroke engine manual!

He WAS also looking for an Enya 60-4C manual, and since I do have one of those VERY LOOONGGG stroke (22mm piston stroke!) Enya 60-4C "putt-putts", I also have the manual all scanned for easy Emailing right on my hard disk..."ggn" NOW has the Enya 60 four stroke manual that I Emailed to him, but he ALSO needs the 90-4C manual as well!

Just hoping someone can help him...

Yours Sincerely,

The PIPE!

Norman, I have a few Enya fourstrokes. The valve to rocker clearance you are looking for is 0.05-0.10 mm set COLD.
The spacer you ask about is a spring, It keeps the two rocker arms from moving towards center. If you have lost yours, any spring that keeps slight pressure on the arms would be a suitable replacement.
