OS 46AX MkII (Bearing #)
Hi Everyone
I shall be changing my OS 46AX MkII front & rear bearings soon and would like to replace them with the Brand SKF.
However, before the engine 'strip down' I'd like to ask if someone can provide me with the OS stock bearing numbers (as printed on the front & rear bearings) so that I can pre order my SKF bearings (using a compatibility list from my local bearing shop here in the England).
If they are the same as the 46AX or FX engines then I have no worries since I already have these in my shed.
Any help would be most welcome.
Cheers...!

just go to Towers an research their sizes, at the bottom of each page it should tell each bearing size,, with that I am sure they are the same sizes

Hi Jim
Thanks for the reply.
Normally I check the T.H website for info. Most times they are quite good but sometimes their Tech Dept are not always accurate in recent years.
I was hoping someone had an actual number on the bearing to be certain.
Regards

we're getting warmer......
I've seen some of these photo's but still cannot make out the imprint on the bearing itself.
Hope you have better luck.
I think these bearings on the 46AX II are the same as the 46AX but I just wan't to be certain before ordering.

NOTE: OS can sometimes be confusing in the way they mark-up the part numbers and description on there packaging.
For example; when you check the engine parts list that comes with the engine the OS Numbers for example show the following;
OS 46AX (Crankshaft Bearing R) #26730040 (from the manual)
OS 46AX II (Crankshaft Bearing R) #26730005 (from the manual)
The picture above describes the Rear Bearing as being suitable for the 46AX (not the 46AX II) however the part number matches that of the 46AX II Manual.
This is why I wan't the actual number from the bearing itself.

the stock NTN front bearing is good for the front,,
EDITED) to add, some 5 years ago I replaced my Hyper 50 bearings, I bought an SKF AND a NTN rear bearings, I found the SKF rear bearing to be smoother!!!!!, but I used a NTN on the front, I have never heard any one saying they had a problem with their NTN front bearing, I flew the OS 50 Heli engines for 16 years, I too never had a problem with the NTN front bearings,, I say just use the stock NTN on the front

Jim, thank you very much for the assistance.
Very much appreciated.
I'll still try and source the SKF bearing for the 'front' since the prices are much cheaper than OS Stock parts.
I can get x2 SKF for the price of x1 OS stock bearing.
If I struggle obtain like-for-like then I'll resort to the OS NTN bearing for now.
All the best mate and thanks again.

I use the stock Heli crank with a shoulder nut to hold the prop on ,,
OH I still have the larger Heli 60L carb on it, and with that prop it idles better than any 2 stroke I have ever seen !!

oops sorry, I actually think the fuel is lower than 20% because I mixed it, I had 30% mixed with 15% to have about 25%, then 6 moths later when I was going to get the plane in the air I mixed in some 10%, I really do not know what the nitro percentage is, a real guess will be around 13 to 15 ????
but I do have 3 gallons of 30% LOL

Wow, very impressive.
Saw one of those engines on Ebay going for a song (cheap!) and was tempted to get it, but in the end I didn't since I was not so sure how similar they were to the 50SX.
I wish I had bought it now so that I could convert it to 'fixed wing' use.
I love the 50 SX Ringed for me it's the best OS engine. They start with a flick of a finger and so snappy on the throttle.
Thanks for the info.
Happy Landings.....
