James,
Thank you.
I know the manual recommends 87-91 Octane. The higher (100) octane fuel shouldn't matter to my way of thinking. The compression isn't high enough to take advantage of the higher octane. Octane only delays the ignition on higher compression engines. Thus preventing pre-ignition.
Those are my thoughts. Perhaps they are wrong?
Thank you.

Hi folks
Can somebody recommend the best airframe for my Moki 150? I had it in my scratch build Bucker Jungmeister but sold that plane minus motor since then and now I'm thinking to find a home for it. Either kit or building from plan...I'm easy either way. It doesn't necessarily have to be a warbird.

Travel Air Mystery Ship is one of my favourite but where can I get a set of plans for it? I was also thinking Polikarpov I-16. I scratch built one years ago and it was a beautiful flyer. Don't feel like going through the headaches of making my own set from a 3 view drawing again. The trouble is, if you want something exotic, you probably won't find it, unless you make your own.

Ignition batteries for radial engines?
Does anyone know where I can still purchase NiCad batteries for the ignition of radial engines? I have a Moki 150 wheras it states NiCad batteries must be used (4.8 V 1600mAh). The same instructions for my old O.S. FR3 Sirius 300 5 cyl. radial. What are we now using in place of NiCads since they don't seem to be available anymore? The instructions are really vague about battery use.
BTW...Just breaking in the FR3 and it fires all the cylinders at first but then two always drop off after about 45 seconds and it spews fuel/oil from the exhaust. I'm, for now, using a McDanials glow driver and using a Hobbico 4.8V 2000 mAh Hyrdrimax. It runs but not well.
Have not started the Moki yet.... looking for input on that as well.

Follow the manual to the letter would be my first thought. I have a sonic Tronics auto glow system on my Evo radial. This stops the lower cylinders the chance of oiling up. You might want to consider one of those in the future- if the need should arise. Though with OS it shouldn't need it.

I think I am going to invest in the onboard glow system just to avoid the hassles of the bottom cylinders.
On another note I know a guy that produces the Fred Reese Mystery Ship for the guy that was asking about it earlier. He makes the 1/4 scale which might work with your Moki 150.

I was referring to Petes Hobby Center. I own a NIB original Fred Reese 1/5 scale Mystery Ship kit but it would take a REALLY good offer for me to get rid of it. I looked for 4 years to find it and have not found the time to build yet.
I seen a guy that built one with the 120 but I thought the 170 or 200 might be better.

Yeah, Petes Hobby Center doesn't produce those fiberglass kits anymore, unfortunately . I bugged the owner for 6 months, and finally gave up.
I had a kit cutter enlarge the AMA / Laddie Mikulasko 1/6-scale plans up to 1/5, and cut the whole mess for me. I have the matching Fiberglass Specialties cowl & wheelpants. Now I just need to retire, I guess... Haw
