OS 120 4 stroke help (old version)
Hello all,,, I have aquired an older OS 120 4 stroke that has been sitting up quite a while . I did get the crank to turn over after soaking w/ trans fluid but maybe the ring(if it has one ) is stuck causing no compression. I do understand that I can no longer get parts for this engine.
Would anyone who is good with these engines want to take a look at it and maybe give me a price to try and fix it(if possible). I here they were good strong engines. Give me a shout.
Thanks!!!!! John McGowan, Birmingham, Al

OS 120 4 stroke help (old version)
Hello!
The first thing I would do to an engine that had been out of action is to take a real close look at the ballbearings! Most of the time these bearings need to be changed new ones.
I would also dismantle the engine and check if the ring is stuck in the piston (this could happen if the engine was being run on castor-oil and then sat on the shelf for a couple of years). Your engine is ringed!
Regards!

I too have one of these engines. I was running it on a castor blend so after two years on the shelf it had not compresion and it would not turn. I soaked it in denatured alcohol for a day and then dried it then oiled it up. The ring was still stuck a little so I just ran it that way. After about 2 minutes of running it was just like it used to be.
Check the valves also. Mine were sticky but were closing.
