Ah man we got crocodile dundee down here and popo for a backstop so we can get some friendly fire laid down.Me and the dog are digging a foxhole out in the back lawn and modifying a 44 gallon drum into a chillybin to keep the drinks cool.An airshow like you describe is nearly a once in a lifetime show tick that off your bucket list.Speaking of edge 540's,if you have time look up svetlana kapanina on you tube tho she mostly flies su's for the russian national team and holds many titles, best in cockpit footage of a qualified chemist, hot looking lady who can fly,and to quote her roughly..'the russian woman need to stop the bolting horse and put the housefire out' when she was interviewed for russian tv.I wonder if she can repair outboard motors and bait a hook,on my bucket list

Hi Charley,

I'm not letting the license lapse. Was first licensed in the early 80's. I may let my ARRL membership lapse though cuz I'm not that active. If I get active again, I'll renew the ARRL. Thanks for asking. What's your call???

By the way - N1EDM = Need 1 Extra Dry Martini

Bob, I was up, (from here) in Marshfield, Ma. about 3 weeks ago visiting our 17 month old Great Grandaughter, we had raised her from 4 days old to 13 months, she's coming back on Tuesday
Barry, I flew at Ft. Belvoir with a Col. Don Johnson who had flown F-86's and F-100 Super Sabre's in Korea. He partly taught me how to fly in 1990.

Hey Pete, you watch out for those women from that big Country way up north, one of them could probably whip you in a fair fight. Some day I'd like to have one of their Ural motorcycles.

My call is AF5AO, it's on my other post but in lower case; guess you missed it. I've never been able to think up a mnemonic. Got any ideas?

Well if it were mine, it would be AirForce5A**holeOne, because I am such of one. Easy to become one when surrounded by them.

Dave- neat that you some stick time from a pro. W8YE has a good bit of flight time.

Pete- You mean the same Russian in this video? http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=...5D&FORM=VRDGAR It's a 6 minute video sure to please everyone with her and Peter Bensenyei flying Sukhois in Japan at the Twin Ring Motegi. A French production company named Haute Voltige (High Voltage) produced it as a demo.

Trust me, we know you guys have our backs down there. No problems with that. The Veep is in Seoul at the moment.

Bill Stein flew the Edge 540 and Rob Holland flew something last weekend. The previous airshow I went to was here in Auburn last year I think. It wasn't a big one, but they had a great wing walker on a Stearman named Jane Wicker. She was killed a few weeks later at Dayton when it tip stalled low level in front of the crowds and she was way out there on the wing tip that hit first.

Hi N1EDM, I never got my license but I'm sitting here with Perseus, Elad, Winradio, and Airspy SDRs in front of me. I'm under stacked Yagis for 88-108 mHz FM bcst in the attic and a Wellbrook 1530+ loop on top of those. Next to all this is one of my R-390As. (Pete, the Winradio is made in Melbourne by Radixon.)

Looking for some help. I'm sure this has been discussed already in this thread so be kind. Saito 65 Golden knight mounted on Seagull Models Decathalon both bought at a swap meet a few months ago. Motor is is mounted horizontal with muffler port down and standard muffler inside the cowl and exiting the bottom of the fuselage. Kit tank is oval shaped and sits in a "cradle" built into the formers and firewall. Initial engine run was yesterday. 15% multi viscoscity fuel, 13x6 Master Airscrew prop. Started right up and idled great. Let it run for a while and it would transition well even at a rich high speed needle setting from idle to WOT. Picked the plane up off the ground with the engine running and moved it around pointing the nose down, laying on it's side (knife edge position) ran great great, but the instant I pointed the nose straight up it would quit. Not a slow down kind of stumble or rough running but a dead stop. Back on the ground it would start right up again and run strong. Pick it up, point the nose up and it quits. Took the cowl off, bypassed the DuBro fuel filler straight to the carb nipple, same thing. Spend time today letting it run in some more, same thing. Removed the tank, replaced the suction line from the pickup clunk, line, tube through the stopper and to the firewall. Tried it again and now it's worse! Starts right up but now it won't run anywhere past half throttle. It quits but will catch again if I bring the throttle back down to idle quick enough. Help! I have several different sizes of Saito single cylinder four strokes and I have no idea what this thing needs. Thanks in advance.

Jay i have a few of those with 82's in them, everything looks neat and correct in the photos. The engine is leaning off suddenly when you point the aeroplane up so i'd look at the plumbing in the fuel tank or richen the engine up drastically let us know how you go,tuning on the bench is one thing,a flying tank installation and tuning can be quite another.I use those filler valves to make sure they are clean and shut properly.

ps persevere they are mighty good fun to fly when you get the cg back a bit.

It's all modern stuff, Pete. Most of the radio innards is in the computer software. But it's neat and revolutionary. Australia seems to have a healthy radio business. Codan is supplying our Dept of Veterans Affairs with a complete nationwide radio system. They're based somewhere in Australia and the VA job is a big contract.

Yeah, if I had any idea anyone would look that up I would have warned them. The camera was high quality and caught the crash with too much detail. She put on a good show here and her pilot couldn't make it so her ex flew the Stearman. Can you believe that? Anyway, the announcer said she had a teenage son. She was really good and made the show look great. I know crash videos are interesting but this is one that nobody really wants to watch.

I read some time back that Svetlana Karapova had 2 kids before she took her first flight lesson. She also did a Russian Playboy magazine shoot about 10 years ago.

Jay, firstly I believe that to be a Saito .62, not a big deal though. I personally would lose the on board fuel filter, but my guess is that either the LS needle or the HS needle or both are too lean. Sometimes or more accurately quite often those filler valves leak air. Beautiful plane.

I'm sorry Pete, I didn't realize that you already suggested the, too lean, thing.

Here is a shot of an un-run .65 and a much run .62, I should have removed the vent on the .62 so it would not sit nose up. It still show the difference.

This is maybe 1/3rd of Colonial Beach, I live about 5 miles to the left, (east) of here. We have a pretty good drag strip about 1.5 miles from my house. Good sounds come from there. Now, if I could only get someone to open an airport near me, I'd have all the good sounds in the world. I am the only RC flyer here, I have to go to Massaponix south of Fredericksburg to fly.
