Anything requiring a Saito 100 twin is going to get a single cylinder IC in my shop. I can't justify the expense for a twin or a large electric motor, ESC, and LiPo combination. My hobby budget is limited and I like to get the most bang for the buck. I'll leave the twins, radials, and electric motors big enough to anchor the Queen Mary to you independently wealthy guys. On electric power I will say I love my Rascal C with it's little brushed motor and gear box and the GWS DC-2 Beaver foamie was fun while it lasted. I am looking into build the Dumas DH-89 Dragon Rapide and the SIG Dornier DO 207. The Rapide due to its design will go electric the designer of the Dornier tells me it can go electric on use a pair of .07 or .10 Glow 2C. The jury is out on what it gets.

Or do like I did and find them at swaps, or just around. My DA-100 = FREE, the Gemini 120 came with an Ultimate Bipe I paid $300 for. Those are my two twins. Boy does that Gemini sound nice too. I am STILL kicking myself for passing on a Saito 300 twin, NIB, for $300.

I can't believe you bought a plane with a Gemini in it for $300! The guy didn't sell it he gave it away! What a bargain!

Yep, and after a little work, the plane flies too. I think it will be a fun plane. I spent a few hours degumming the engine, it sat for years and was fouled from old castor fuel, but now it spins cleanly, no bearing noise, good compression, and idles beautifully.

I'm not sure about a 125 turning a 3 bladed 15" prop.

i'd have said it twice too.Wasp you can overprop it check fnq's posts back in this thread, low rpm on the ground unloads a lot in flight so tune rich on the ground.Otherwise you need to come down in dia to run a three blade prop of the same pitch as the two blade so your aeroplane is doing roughly the same speed for the same rpm.And now a quick joke..will master airscrew ever make a 15x1 (single blade) for a 125?

All APC's are 1" pitch or less. The 125 needs a real 15x8 or 16x6 prop.

well it wouldn't really bother me to run a 2 blade prop, but those complaints in the other thread about the cam not getting oil is a different thing. I'm one of those that believe I should not have to take apart a brand new "high quality" engine "like a Saito" to see if it was assembled correctly.

BTW, you know I don't get Saito, they should be making 2St's also ,,, < oops, where is my silver suit

Jim

Dave and I are supposed to inform members to clear out their cookies if they are creating double posts. I'm kinda holding out on wiping out that saved up info for the moment myself. If you take my approach it's every man for himself. Delete your own double posts. lol

The 125 is an exception in several ways. First, some break in fairly normally and use around a gallon of fuel to get there, and some of the earlier ones take up to 3 gallons and are shakers for a long time like mine was. I bought mine as soon as I saw it was imported, so it's a very early model and I pretty much didn't like it like Old Fart lets on about his. I will say it smoothed out some and when I got the low speed tuned just right it was a nice little monster- a slow turning monster which you will see some people say, and some say theirs turns the higher RPMs.

My 1.25 has the latest cylinder with more and deeper cooling fins, it took about 50 minutes to break it in.

I hate to clean out the cookies, then you have re-log in everywhere you go and remembering all those log ins is a real pain.

COOKIES! HMMM!

I was referring to the purchase of a Gemini 120 with an Ultimate Bipe for only $300. My Yankee father in-law use to say it was better to be lucky sometimes then being the sharpest tool in the shed. Such a purchase is very lucky!

""purchase of a Gemini 120 with an Ultimate Bipe for only $300. Such a purchase is very lucky!""

I bought a Super Tartan 44cc twin that was only benched run for $50 I will put it in my PA GeeBee Y,, knowing people are selling them for $250 to $300> I thought I was lucky, I also bought a NIB 1983 HB 61 PDP for $10, actually I bought 3 for $30, but 2 were Boat engine's and I sold those 2 for $250

""Jim will your silver suit survive multiple direct hits from 30mm cannon shells?""

LOL well if you can hit it no, but it's invisible, so most likely you will miss

Jim

Yes sir, both are 13mm threads but the later one has more meat around it. I am going to break in a brand new .65 today, I'll post the results and if time allows, compare to a .62.
