Yes sir, I sure do and it has worked about 35 times, on my own engines and several friends. The Saito method is so vague after the first 10 minutes that I came up the 10 minutes at 1,000 intervals to have something consistent and easy to keep track of. If you try my method note that during the 5,000 or the 6,000 rpm run the engine will accelerate about 300 to 500 rpm all on it's own without a change in the throttle. Saito say 40 to 50 minutes and the engine is broken in and I agree.

PS, Saitos have nothing in their construction that can benefit from heat cycling.

Thanks, good to know. I've used your Saito break in proceedure for years on all my 4 stroke rebuilds. Never had a problem either.

Not complaining, I also ordered a pile of metal cans to store the stuff. In spite of that, I just ordered 5 gallons of nitro to add to that stash. No gassers here, ever

I have used several gallons just recently of Fox Missile Mist. Over thirty years old, still in the original cans. Still burnedas new,Glow fuel stores very well .

I do burn a lot of glow fuel but this stash should last a while.

AFAIK, all .82 Saito use the same cam profile. They certainly run the same. I have three of the hot cam, dual plug 120 . Nice engines, but I would trade for the original, mild cam "Fathead" Saito 120.
The larger tappets also affect valve timing.

Interesting thread. They’re dropping a lot of knowledge there. Thanks for sharing. I’ll have to read through more of it now.

So I set valve clearance on my 100 with the provided Saito feeler gauge which I assume is .002. There is slight resistance in the gap. Now I want to go back and set it at .0015.

Haven’t noticed or looked to see if I have quieting ramps on my cam.

The Saito provided gauge is actually .0039", I only recently started using the OS gauge, Since using Saitos since 1988 or 1990 I never had an issue using the Saito gauge.

https://www.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCN31&P=7

My OS tool set only had the .04 mm gauge in it.

The triplets, FA 120S dual plug. Wonderful engines .

Been using .0015 " (.04mm) to .002" since 1979 . Not a big deal either way . I try to stay on the tight side and avoid the wider side of the factory spec. The Saitos tend to open with time so I set on the minimum side of tolerance. WIth old flat tappet full size engines it is often different as the exhaust seats often recede causing the lash to close up. With those cases we often use the minimum settings for the intake and set the exhaust a bit open where we notice the gaps may tend to close up. Engines are all a bit different but as you learn the patterns you adjust accordingly.

Default FA 125 Carburetor

I think it was Jim who wanted to experiment with bigger carburetors. Got one here for you. This is from a low time 125 that over-revved and lost a rod.

The owner will let it go for $20 if you want it. Just let me know.

Nice!

I have one that’s all siezed up. I need to give it a good overhaul. Anyone run these with the pump system valve?

K) wrong Cam Cover
L) bent Cam Cover

P) your using heli fuel or have heli parts in the shed
Q) the engine backfired badly and you have damaged the prop
R) the fa82 case is massively distorted which leads me to the next one
S you are mildly retarded and mostly blind, you may be using an fa125 by mistake

Default Wrist pin retainer

Oops, I knocked around my fa82 parts and lost track of which way the wrist pin retainers get inserted. Convex side in or convex side out?

Curved side out, though it would make no difference. Just be careful they don't fall out while sliding the cylinder down over the piston.

I see that yours came with a Fox Miracle plug in the front and a Hangar 9/McCoy plug in the rear. Mine came new and unrun with this J-Tec muffler, I passed the muffler on to a friend.

Ok thanks. Convex side out would have one point of contact with the cylinder wall and no reservoir for oil. Intuitively I would have put the flat side out. It would have two points of contact with the cylinder wall and has a small recess which could act as an oil reservoir, especially after the outer edges wear off against the cylinder wall. Hmmmm

Edit: It doesn't seem to me that the retainers would be a high wear item. I don't remember any visible wear on the other saitos I've rebuilt and I'm sure I did not buy replacements. There are many places that sell the retainers in 6 packs. What's up with that? Am I missing something important?

Edit to my Edit: Duh.....multi cylinders.

In above list, Wasp mean "worn" , not "warn." Somebody like me might be really confused by that.
