Hey Cap, I received the new Rascal 110 fuse, I am toying with rigging a mock up of the 182 on there, what do you think? No drilling holes until I commit comfortably.
PS, as I checked out that 65 fuel inlet I checked 4 older HS needles, they all have sharp points except the 65 which is more blunt like the one Gary shows.

will the cylinder’s stick out?
The 65 will probably just get a different carb and will set the original aside.

Agreed, it's hard not to admire the range of skills gary has mastered taking other work he has shown here into consideration.

That fuel inlet by Gary is master piece enough to treasure.
I have new crankshaft coming for the 82 fixxerupper. I mounted to 1.82 on the PSP to do a limber up and test run. It will have straight, black pipes on it.
I took somebodies advice and resisted the temptation to paint the cylinders black

yeah there are just some engine’s you don’t paint.
I see what Gary did and I found a needle assembly from a 150 will screw into the carb so I need to make the orifice and solder in the place.
The 182 I have has CH ignition and run’s good but it needs to be run and broke in. I hate to copy Dave or Gary but I am considering getting a 110” Rascel also to test engine’s on. Providing it fly’s as good as the 168” Rascel, witch I think it does.

All those big Saito V twins.
Let us know how it goes., the new 110 Rascal fuse came in a box that weighed 21.3 pounds, to say it was well packed is a huge understatement.
Big doins here in Colonial Beach, Va. a town of 3,600 is hosting 30,000 bikers for the CB Fall Bike Fest. Go figure.

Yeah my 182 same way pretty easy halfway across hole and maybe a little tweak and it’s done.
The air bleed carb is just stupid easy, I think that’s why some have a problem with it.
By the way when I got my 182 the guy must have had trouble with the engine. I can tell the air bleed screws were all the way out. Tried it that way for kicks and nope wouldn’t idle so screwed in to half hole and done. The engine is so new that it won’t idle down to were we like so need run this thing and hope to in joy the plane providing the covering stays on.

Dave & Crunchy, where are the airbleed holes located in relation to the throttle barrel? Are they only exposed to vacuum at idle and then closed off when the barrel is advanced or are they lower down on the carb body and exposed to vacuum at all times. I have seen them positioned in various locations on other engines. Just curious.

I'll have stew on that a bit, I'll report back. Something that might be a problem using the 182 is that the upper left mounting bolt hole is nearly at the top edge of the fuse. The upper left bolt hole when using the 180 is not quite so high.

Dave, some triangular stock blocks, epoxied in place around the top of the firewall can be helpful. A few high- time Rascal 110 are showing up with loose firewall tops. The landing gear blocks, like with many Seagull built ARF can be a weak point too.

To check the airbleed location you can use a T-pin through the hole and rotate the throttle barrel.
Can the 182 be mounted slightly lower on the firewall and the cowl tipped downward slightly?

I love it here, no cows and no trees.
I gotta take the one quarter Cherokee Mrs. to aqua therapy then I can get serious about all that. Busy busy.
Tomorrow AM I am meeting my brother in law and sister in law in Waldorf, Md. for breakfast at Ape Hangers, then attending the Bike Fest with them.
I used to fly up there at the southern most part of Andrews AFB, now I fly about 35 miles south of here.

You could try the 182 on the Rascal without cowl. That way it would be a snap to fit a single later on and not need to buy a new fifty dollar cowl.
Just a thought.

Supposed to be cold here tomorrow. Right now it is 42*, was 49* when I arrived at work. I have a couple things I need to get done outside tomorrow, then the rest of the weekend will be in my shop finishing up my Liberty Sport.
Hey Mike the Crunch, are you interested in building a Liberty Sport from a short kit? I am almost done creating the burn files and want someone to sample build one besides me. Would make a great little plane to mount a Saito on.

I'm very tempted! The Liberty Sport is a great looking plane and the plans and manual are available for download.

I'll give a shout when I have the first test kit cut out. So far I have the wings built out, and have a few corrections to make on the ribs, but I used the kit parts for the fuse, so need someone to build a fuse to verify fit and form.
