I started out my R/C experience W/an FA 150 on a Sr Telemaster, hence my username.
I still have that FA 150 fired by C&M electronic ignition, another NIB FA 150, an FA 180 that has never been started mounted on a ΒΌ scale Cap 232, an FA 91s on a US Aircore 40 size high wing and last but not least, a 300 TTDP W/C&M spark ignition that is to be mounted on my framed up 1/3 scale SIG Spacewalker.
I have never owned a 2 stroke R/C engine & don't plan on it.
i do wish Saito had more options in 5 cylinder radials as the next engine will be a radial but probably an ASP 400R5 of possibly an Evolution 777 radial.
Here are some PIX of the 300 TTDP. Note the ignition module & spark plug wires. It idles reliably @ 1100 RPM.
If you have never tried spark ignition on the larger Saito engines, you should give it a try. I donβt remember the tank size, but the FA 150 would run 12 minutes @ WOT W/glow ignition & 30 minutes @ WOT on Spark ignition on the same tank using 15% Cool Power fuel for both runs.
The idle, transition & midrange power were all much improved W/no loss of top end power.
