The fg11 does sound good were you running a straight pipe or a muffler?

Pix of the fg57 will be up as soon as i get my camera back.

ps sammy you watch out for that sr telemaster plane, they can be a bit tricky to handle and sometimes bite back

LOL! I would put my 330 on floats BUT! Don't want to have to dive to the bottom to retrieve my tween. Think the tele, is no big deal. Like the Sig Sr, Kadet better, just like thet big wing on the Telemaster.

We are lucky to have an asphalt strip that is a bit low near one end so when it rains heavy you get some deep puddles to takeoff through on full throttle. The water vortex of the prop tips is good to watch but you can hear the saito grinding away a bit,it drops a few revs and sharpens the tips of apc props and if it rains heavy while flying i always worry about water hitting my tx but it's worth it to watch the prop and plane with water bouncing off the airframe and getting sprayed everywhere by the prop as well.Should i think about floats sammy?...be a bit hard on them in summer tho i reckon the saito singles would have enough grunt to launch it.

Typically gas drops about 15% power compared to the glow ignition versions.

When comparing CDI glow fuel to gas, it's about 20-25% advantage for glow fuel if the CDI glow fuel conversion is tuned properly.

I just wondered how much hotter the gas runs, than the nitro.
I've heard that the normal temps for gas is 210 - 220 F and the FG11 is running at 221 on a 93 degree day with high humidity. So I guess it's doing ok.
A few years back I was experimenting W/e-85. I did some testing W/an FA-150 on GI, CDI/glow fuel & CDI/e-85.

I'm just going from memory but if I recall correctly, CHT measured between the rocker boxes @ the rear was 20°F hotter W/CDI/glow fuel compared to GI & CDI/e-85 was an additional 40°F hotter than the CDI/glow fuel combo. I abandoned the e-85 idea because it us not readily available in my area & when it is, it is often only 60% ethanol in colder months. The glow fuel carburetor was also way too sensitive.

Since the blend I was using was most likely the lower % ethanol blend, the temperatures I observed would be close to what a straight gasoline conversion would run.

l don't know what happened there Oldfart? I hit the wrong button? It all wen't away? Anyway. l did fly off a paved runway in Hot Springs. Thats about 50Mils away, Now l live in Lt, Rock and we fly off of grass. lt's a old landfill that is on top of a hill but when it rains, it turns to Quagmire (bad mud) our parking lot is small and kinda at a angel and if your not lucky, you in up in the woods (No Fun) I go to HS sometimes, I miss the paved runway and my buddies, just cost me a lot to drive over there for one day and my X is running around there some where?? Every time l here a car l think it's her! (BAD NEWS) She found where l was parking my trailer after l left her and broke in to it and cost me about $10,000 (Stomped Everything) had to start over. Sucked! l had some new planes that l have not got to fly yet. Also cost me $5,000 to get my name off of stuff, what rely pi**'d me off is that she stole my dog! So, YA, I get kinda of pi**y at some women! I have been flying for over 40Yrs and no woman is going to stop that! The one l have now is the best! She buys me plane's and even comes to the field! BUT! Back to flying, when it rains at our field, it in's up into everything, makes a mess! Sometimes it pays to stay home.

I've run it both ways and it sounds the same either way. (I think it's on youtube)
But I am running with the muffler cause I need the nose weight.
If the weather holds out, I'll try it again today with a 13/6 prop.
I'm looking for the thrust of the 12/8 but with some braking effect, That darn 7 lb Smith has some *big* inertia to overcome on landing.

It's good when the grass has just been cut because little bits of wet grass gets all over the plane. Looks neat.

Question on first start of my 100 GK

It has been run before, but the guy said not well. What should I set the needles to for first run. Also what can I use to extend the needle past the cowl? Something else, when I mounted the spinner back plate and prop, I noticed I dont have many threads left.

The spinner bolts to teh lockdown nut, which I need to get since the ones that come with the spinner have the wrong threads, so out of the two from Tower, which one do I use for this one?

Your crankshaft should be 8x1.25 mm thread.

Wind your lsn out till it is flush with the lower bevel on the throttle arm and wind the hsn out four turns from fully closed.

ps you can use piano wire for the needle ext.

cloudancer03, I ran 10-15% in my 91, mounting a 13/8 3-blade for ground clearance and reduced roll effects on the Skybolt bipe, (14/8 2-blade overpowered the ailerons on the low wing only during vertical maneuvers). Both props should work fine.

IMO, if you need any higher nitro content look for a larger motor.

I thought if we stuck to what happens with the 82 and your thoughts on that we'd be pretty safe

Where did you find that old relic? I asked Mike @ Sig if they had any thoughts on reissuing that kit, and he said NOPE. A friend of mine has one that he bought already built, and I wanted to build one too.

PS. The 13/6 performed nicely on the Smith. I put a new vid of it in the previously linked Smith thread.

I think I found them by searching on some R/C car sites.
