Well, I had a .72 that kissed concrete in Fort Belvoir, Va., that was real bad for it. It went straight in. I later found that the right aileron servo locked up up. It was BTE Venture 60 that I set up dual aileron servos. What a great flying plane until then. Dar Zeelon has my other .72.

I put put my FA-150 straight in @ WOT when I tried a split "S" from "insufficient altitude". Buried it in the soft spring loam of Southern Indiana so far only the fire hose nozzle muffler was visible. First thing I did was grasp the muffler to pull it out. It was so "heavy" I had to let go of it.

The only real damage to the engine was to the push rod covers. The 95" Sr. Telemaster that rode it in? It didn't fare near so well.

Ken, that is an early high compression 1.50 that Dan helped me with the Hall effect sensor and mount and he changed the spark plug connector to a 120 degree one.

Dan, sensitive fingers can pick up on,"heavy" real quick. I welded a pedal on a bicycle that threads had stripped. i picked it up too soon and left my finger prints and a bunch of skin on it.

I was only about 13 then, I have never been a swearer, well not much anyway. That Saito 1.50 above has caused it a time or two. But, I always forgive it.

Dan, do you have a .30, if you do I know you appreciate its" big" sound. Two would be sweet.

Nope, my "smallest" is the FA-91S that I originally bought to power the USAircore "Knighthawk".

It's going in the 1/5 scale J-3 Cub unless I can somehow finagle enough $$$ to get an FA-115 for it.

Hobbsy they sing, I am running 3 blade 9x7. One turn 9500 the other a little less. Have not flown the plane yet. I had to build a cowl for fuse, hope to fly it this weekend

Hobbsy, do you think a Saito1.50 would be a good size engine for Aeroworks Pro 260 ...the same size guys put DLE 20cc engines on. Thanks

Bob i would love to hear both the 30's running,one is sweet two would be a pleasure.

Captain if you don't mind here's my 2 cents.I think in real flying performance the 150 will hammer a dle20 plus they sound and smell nicer,what's not to like?

ps bob just kidding but did you know ww2 pilots used to say that the only way to take quick evasive action in the p38 was to undo the harness and run around in the cockpit ??

Hi Old Fart. This is regards you wanting to hear the sound of 2 Saito 30s. I ran across this vid of a tri motor plan. It does use 3 .26 OS's, but the pilot intends to replace the engines with three Saito 30s for better runs. It is a CL plane. But man O man does it sound good. Looking forward to him getting the Saito's installed and a vid. It can only sound better!!!
Cl planes are tuned rich (4 2 4 break), It only adds to the sound I think.
He stated he was one 69.5 foot lines.

No, I have a 30 GK but it is still new in the box. I was half way through building a 4 Star 20 for it when I stopped the project. I need to get back to that plane. It is an electric kit that I had to modify a good bit for the 30.

Have a .30 flying a Hobbico 40 trainer and a .62 flying an Ugly Stik. My most interesting Saito is an old .80 twin whose pistons travel in the same direction. Both go left, both go right, etc.

Single crankpin and in spite of that they are very smooth.

New project (amongst many others) is to try out the new OS GGT plug in a Saito glo fuelled with petrol. The fuel mix is the problem. Saito 30 powering a 6 foot Lanzo Racer for Texaco, 12 mils of 10% nitro fuel gives between 3 and 4 minutes engine run with an audio tacho reading of around 5,000rpm. Latest data. Day was calm temp arounf 23 degrees centigrade, yes it was a tad cold.

Well as most of you know these new fangled computers can be fun at times.A month ago i spilled coffee on the modem which resulted in a termination,and the day before yesterday all the smoke escaped from my 500gig harddrive.There goes every photo i had and for now i'm stuck on a small laptop built by noah.The new system will have a backup.

I did'nt know so many people here had the little 30 and how much they like them,it's been a surprise.Fnq that sounds like an interesting story re the ggt plug and running on petrol,whats the problem with the petrol mix? and what prop were you running @5000...and you can't keep complaining about the cold while your location still says cairns (it's warm up there folks)

Take that drive to some who knows what they are doing. I have no idea how many "smoked?" hard drives I have recovered info off of. I only failed once.

Sure wish I was one of the guys with a Saito .30 or actually several. I am planning at some point a tri motor bi plane. Well maybe when there is some income coming in again. Trying to get disability, back is done for, 3 surgeries in on year.
