Mine was trying to charge MSRP which is about double the street price. I pointed out at there was still a 30% mark-up at the street price. He said he couldn't stay open on 30% so I pointed out that he will close even sooner on 0%.

He now matches Tower/Horizon prices.

Al's was one of the last true Hobby Shops around and it closed earlier this year. All I have left is Hobby Town, one can get SIG, the other just what comes from Tower/Horizon. Problem with that is I can get it direct from either, for the same price-shipping, but get it quicker.

BTW Loving my FG-11, its getting dialed in nicely. My first flight resulted in a dead stick, was doing a vertical and chopped throttle, and it quit, but the T-Clips lands so nice it was a non event. I found my low idle is 2100 RPM now, and had to boost it up a bit so it wouldn't quit. Walked out to it gave it a couple flips and it was running again, took off and flew 20 minutes, then landed, and I thin it either clipped some grass or died from low idle again. I bumped up the idle a bit more, and flew it again about an hour later for about another 15 minutes and taxied it back. Running really smooth. Great match for the T-Clips.

I'm kind more with Senior Telemaster's point of view with my particular shop. However, he has cut back on what he has on the shelves and his prices have gotten closer to Horizon's. That means he orders more often and the prices are better when he orders. I'm not buying much anyway but I still have to mail order props if I need them. Prices have jumped so much that I would buy a used engine if I wanted another one. I bought a used 91 that is fine piece of work that runs extremely smooth, so that's probably how I'll do things from now on. I put it on the bench and it was probably better tuned than I could do so I left everything alone and enjoyed burning up some fuel with it.

Robert, you have it pretty good. I used to go with friends on a 2 hour drive to Mac Hodges when his hobby shop was open. I would buy fuel by the case as his prices were about 30% cheaper. All of us loaded up on fuel each trip, or placed our orders if we didn't make the next car load going out there. But, 25 miles isn't bad compared to many other people. Just load up when you go.

Thank's blw, My problem -enemy, is time. I still have a 16 yr old daughter at home and she is into everything . at least she'll be starting her very first real job soon. YAY!!! that will free me up a little.But what ever is left over, I'm sure my wife will try to plan away for me. Honey-do list being what they are and all. Eh, happy wife , happy life right?

And that's the only way around the fuel problem for me. Or, I guess I could shelf all of my much loved, (even the one's I hate) glow engine's, and switch over to gas. but that's got it's own learning curve and problems to go with it.

And electricity is ok for batteries and wall outlets. I never had the urge to fly my weed-eater, HAHA. Don't get me wrong, I have a few small electrics, but that's just it, SMALL. It just doesn't seem right for me anyway, on anything bigger than say about a .25 size airframe.Bigger than that , and I really need some kind of exhaust to complete the experience,for me anyway.

So G&G in Griffith is still in business? Good to hear! Back in the 70s and 80s I would go in there when we were back in Munster visiting my parents. That is a great hobby shop.

For Old Fart, didn't fly on the w/end but went to the Shannons Historical Bike races at Lakeside. HRD's, Vincents, lots of Manx Nortons, Indians (provided amusement on the track) Harleys, and lots and lots of Suzzies, Yamahas, etc. Iwas was for modern Historic (1960 to 1980) but a lot of "oldies" were accomodated as well. Good day over 400 bikes and outfits there and every body was happy not a dirty look on any ones face. And the women, well those sights were enjoyable as well. Oh yes lots of Matchless and BSA stuff there as well.
Later today after doing penance in the form of mowing etc I will attempt to post those photos.

Luv luv luv my FG-11. Flew again today, took about 12 flips on the first start of the morning, flew for no idea how long, landed, flew my other plane a little while later (Who knew I could knife edge an LT-40), then about an hour or so later went to fly my Clips again, turned the prop one revolution to get it in starting position, one flip and it was purring. Finding I have to bump the idle trim down once every flight, its breaking in very nicely. Definitely swapping out the OS70 for the Saito 100 in the Cub now.

Historic motorcycle racing is fascinating and brings out the best in everybody.I can smell the castor from here and lakeside is a nice circuit.

Trev that gp decathlon would fly a 62 scale or an 82 a bit nuts..i like them with an 82 fitted.It's queens birthday day today so a public holiday.The weather is still a bit wild and windy here but managed to get a few good flights in with the deccy off our tarmac airstrip.It's surround by tall grass and today we had flocks of pink and grey galah's (crazy flying parrots) eating all the groundseeds and generally making a racket while remaining invisible.Did a low pass man it was like diving thru a school of baitfish with the odd feather or two floating down.The 82 never missed a beat all day,getting 9400 with an apc 14x6.My mate was flying a 40 size raven also with an 82 fitted,13x8 prop and the 82 flies it well.

Jim use any good quality bolts that are a snug fit,i use quality allen head self tappers a lot in nylon engine mounts.

ps trev my trailer tyres are pumped up so i can come and 'rescue' your stash but looking at the pictures it won't be big enough,can i knock yours off ??

I wish I was better at keeping those Saito Boxes, of the .30, old .80, .62, 1.00 and 1.50 I only have the box for the 1.00. I am anxious to try the 10% fuel I ordered, Mr. UPS says it will be here tomorrow PM.

FM, if the .82 has the same mount holes as the older .80 the size is m4, a perfect fit. I tried the .62 but the m3.5 and 6x32 fit it. The .80 is the GK one.

Yeah, I prefer pictures of Saitos over pictures of bikes.

I only have one Saito, a FG-36. I have had no problems with the engine other than the spark plug wire fell off in flight, I am sure that was my fault for not "snapping" in on all the way.

Dave, do you remember when we had a semi-serious argument going on here some years ago about what constituted a good looking bike? Bill Robison kept that one going despite being off topic by miles. I remember there were some hurt feelings over that one. The Triumph Bonneville was a contender.

I remember about three occasions when he called me screaming at the top of his lungs, (quite literally), because I deleted a page and a half long post explaining how to set up the suspension on a Vincent Black Shadow. Even though he had the job RCK has now, I won.

I just bought an unrun Saito .45, I am excited. It'll go on my ancient RCM 40. I get to break in another Saito.

PS, I just checked back into Peter Chinns test of two different Saito .45's and he states that the cylinder walls are parallel, no taper. Nothing special about the break in in that case.

ooh I would love that FA 56 GK, would look great sitting out in the open on my Kadet! Makes me wonder how the 100 would do on the LT-40, but it is too wide for the mounts.
