Trev that's cheap wine at 7.50 a litre was trying to peek inside a fully enclosed and ducted saito cowl tonight but the torch battery was flat.I should have test flicked the gas lighter i picked up.My daughter bought it for me two years ago,one of those flash silver one's with two buttons on top.If you don't have your reading glasses on you can push both buttons at the same time and burn two different parts of the same hand at once.It's safe to use if you are left handed tho.The instruction manual is written by the same guy who designs,writes,arranges the sentences in the same bizzare order and prints every saito factory engine manual i ever read...it can't be me can it?

I mentioned this before, that somebody obviously had that .72 engine apart before. Those bolts when still tight from the factory come loose with decided cracking noise. They would never come loose on their own.
Some people file down slightly oversize allen keys to get the best grip on cylinder bolts as you said the short allen key shaft bends a lot before the bolt goes crack,feels like you have ripped the head off it.

Pete, I got projectitis really bad and I think I found a cure. This guy would be perfect for a couple of Saito .30's. It's called the 50 Caliber for two 25's. Now to round up another .30.

I've never heard of a Saito being shipped with screws that backed out on their own. The backplate screws on my 72 had a white thread locker on them and would back out in about a minute of running after I put the backplate back on.

To finish the discussion on football (rugby league) our national team (mostly maroons) regularly beat the mother country (England) and when the players are almost ready to retire they go to the UK to top up the retirement funds. Now 240z, mine weighed 950 pounds and put out 250 horse power at the back wheels (on a dyno) with standard "rally mods" of triple 45DCOE webers and H&M headers. The YS's are finally working. I found out that unless you physically hold the camshaft in place it can shift one or 2 teeth out of optimum tune, not good and if you put the tank pressurisation valve in the wrong way well the engine floods. The 65 breathed a sigh of relief when we ran a tank of 40% through the YS this am. Testing day again with an old Webra 19 in Nostalgia, 4:1 fuel, methanol to wait for it castor. The cost per litre of fuel Old fart was for 20% nitro but with te latest purchase of nitro it will go up to $8.50 p[er l litre using VP nitro.

If you took the REAR CAM FROM AN FA200Ti (SAI200TI35) you could make any medium Saito single (62-125) run in reverse.

No, but I have an FA-200Ti and if you look at the rear cylinder, from the rear, it is oriented exactly the same as a standard single cylinder from the front as far as the order of intake (right) exhaust (left) The only difference is that the rotation is C/W viewed from the rear.
Therefore, the cam is ground for C/W (crankshaft) rotation viewed from the cam gear end. (Cam rotates CC/W)

Old Fart the best part about my road 240Z was the looks on the WRX drivers as they saw me disappear ahead of them at the street light drags and the coppers that pulled me over for "licence checks" and saw this old fart with a grey beard get out of the car. I used to really jerk off the cops in the Bowen traffic division when I drove up to Cairns who used to harrass me and I would run at 99kph (with the throttle hold) which meant that they were always dancing on the throttle to stay behind me. My sons now have my 911's and my 240Z's but I still have my "factory special" VT. Any way day one of the state champs, the YS is doing 12,100RPM reliably on a 13 x 6 APC and 30% so time to up the anti and show the boys what she is capable of. The little 2.5 Burford Taipan is doing a reliable 12,500 on a 9x6 APC snd standard 1/3 ether, 1/3 Castor and 1/3 kerosene and the "boss" (other 1/2) is timing for us so we are all go. Catch ya

It's Official, Saint Lawrence Valley Modelaires Signed a 1 Year Lease
We signed a 1 year lease yesterday at the local AMA meeting. During the summer, the club will be transitioning from their present flying field to a 10 acre hay field on my place.
By next spring, if everthing is going smooth, we will most likely sign a long term lease. I want to have the lease included in the deed so the club will have a protected site for the future.
It's a small club, about 30 members, but with the room to have 2-3 day events with camping available in my other hay fields (after the hay is cut) there might be a potential for growth.
Very few electron burners & quite a few Saitos & other 4-strokers in the mix.

I just scored a second .30, a nib plain Jane, it still has the grease on the rod bearings. I have wondered if they have it on the cam too, I'm not going to look though. Much busy tomorrow going to the annual Ride In to raise money for a little girl with cancer. Her family gets every penny, the whole thing is possible because of 100's of generous folks. Should be 375 to 400 bikes there including mine.

Because when you modify it for speed you still have a wet cylinder design that lets you rebuild it as often as you like. Mine had the electric overdrive so I could idle and do 55! Now if you want a real laugh check out the "Thorsen Supercharger" kit they built for it! They made it sound like it was a bolt on but you better know a good machine shop when you get it! I didn't have that but I had a factory removable hardtop along with my soft top and two sets of side curtains.[/QUOTE]
I knew a guy had a Judson blower on a MGA 1600; took me for a ride. When he fired it up I thought the valve train was coming apart! Spring-loaded vanes; talk about noisy & not enough boost to make it worth the $$.

Dave for appearances sake will you paint the plain jane 30? i have one and from memory(which at best can be unreliable and at worst tragic)it turned 10600 on the bench running a 10x6 series 2 mas q tip.They have the nicest exhaust and muffler on a saito single.
Each year we have a big toyrun for the kids at xmas time,hundreds of bikes meet at the destination and a mountain of toys and food,clothes etc are dropped off,your pillion usually can't see ahead because of all the stuff they carry,it's fun.After that the more irresponsible members party on at the nearest watering hole,i only go along to keep things in moderation,i hope that's how you spell it.

FYIOKC, Those TR3A's were for sure a thing of beauty. Both my best bud and my girlfriend had those, while I had a '59 MGA to tool around in. We did swap around quite a bit (vehicles, that is ! ! !), 'til bud flipped my girlfriends' up on its side. Those were definitely the days . . . . I remember once the steering wheel coming off in my hands in downtown Atlanta - used a coke pop top to jam it back on - and another time when the leather straps holding the gas tank broke. What FUN ! After 'Nam wound up with a TR5T Trophy Trail that I modded, gearing, pipes, 8 bend ape hangers . . . and rode that thang everywhere. Another bud had a Bonneville that I almost killed myself on - did somehow stay up on 2 wheels tho, thru the grace of . . . Opel GT, RX7, VW Sirroco . . . current favorite sport ride is my '87 Turbo 300ZX - FNQ . . . whew, what a ride ! Then there is my '82 XJ6, lo slung 4 door sedan with it's MASSIVE grille and dual gas caps. TALK about a ride ! !

Have seen many using on board glow to alleviate dropping of cylinder, and just decided ignition was the way to go, gas operation a plus with "fixed income" around the corner. MVVS 120T (by most accounts a problem child) runs on gas or glow, OS FS 160T also runs on gas or glow with the stock carb , FA 270T and FA 150 both have Walbros, but can change back to stock manifold and carb to run glow. Currently looking at my FA 182T and possibly FA 115 for conversions. 1st conversion was a Honda GX31 which Adrian modded for weight reduction and CDI - hope it'll fly a BUSA DVlll in the future.
Well, been working out of town for past months and got to get started "assembling" all the gear for trip.

Opel Gt a good looking car ???????. Old Fart for info in Texaco yesterday, my mate's Saito 62, set up for Texaco, fixed parameters, 14x8 APC standard prop, set to run at between 4500 and 5000rpm (windy day), 5 pound allocation model which equals 15mls of supplied fuel or 10 mls of your own. Results, on supplied fuel which is 5% nitro 15% castor it had a 1 minute 38 second engine run, on own fuel 2 minutes 58 secs engine run, own fuel was 15% nitro 20% synthetic oil., just so you know. Mind you Enya 41's work well on the crap fuel so go figure. We won't talk about my efforts
