This is Max, a Brittany I got free from a co-worker when his daughter left him with them. He was 15 months old when I got him just before Christmas in 2004.


I started a licensed shooting preserve on a small scale to assure he had birdies to play with. He was/is quite a dog & was really good at pinning down pheasants if the hunters would stay close & close in on the birds.



He is now living indoors & is enjoying his retirement.

I don't know looking at that last picture Max looks overworked. He must be tired out from protecting you from homicidal post/package deliverers, marauding stray dogs and cats, and the occasional domestic Eco terrorists such as squirrels!

I bought chicks from a place in Vermont. Those were "Kansas" Ringnecks. Small, 2-3# but FAST. they would flush & rocket away, no climbing out to level off.

Yes I often think that too. When I got him the co-worker's daughter had been trying to keep him indoors in an apartment & my co-worker really had no place to keep him so he was tied to a picnic table with a short leash.

But I also feel very lucky too, as I look at Max as one of those one in a million dogs. A man is very fortunate if he has the privilege of owning one really good dog in his lifetime. Max has fulfilled that privilege for me. Max isn't perfect, but he's awful close as far as I'm concerned. If he understands what I want, he will give it all to please.

i've been really slack firing up the new 82 and running it in.A normally enjoyable task but it's freezing here at the moment and everything not totally essential to survival has retracted it's undercarriage.

An aside I was fitting an OS40P to a trainer yesterday and I was using a genuine OS 40 mount and the holes for mounting the engine didn't line up, so I got another one "out of stock" same P/number and viola everything worked. I have found a couple of other mounts (p/n 906) that didn't match the supposed engine they were listed to fit. Any one else have this problem?

Yup 30 years ago i could sit in the snow on the side of a mountain down the south island of new zealand waiting for a shot and cradling a 338 winnie mag,loved it.Some things about getting older suck and feeling colder than it really is to most people is one them.

Hey old fart, guess what I used a Sako Forester chambered for 338 win Mag and apart from the Ruger M77 in 270w it was the best rifle I ever had. I used it on Sambar deer and long range pig shooting on the Hay plains. Shots were around the 1 kilometre and were made using a rest but was good.

Psssst trev don't mention firearms to much popey will goddamn faint in front of everyone.Have you noticed that our annoying off topic swervery in this forum seems to slow the flow of tuning problems for our forum members and for that they should be thankful i reckon plus it gives me more time to make tuning mistakes in peace and quiet

Pope- are you a vegetarian? I know somebody who tried it for a year and got sick just about every day.

Saitos are easy to put back together especially if you have the little red book (there is a blue one for OS engines)) Now b*^^#y YS engines they are another matter.I am not "playing" with Saitos at present except for the 91 that my mate is rebuilding. Has any one noted how much these engines play up once the dreaded cancer (rust) gets into the internals?.

Hey dont u start ! Its bad enough O.F. raving on like a lunatic . I do have a friend whose a vegan . Keeps saying you eat dead mammal ! better than a live one I guess . Had him around for a bbq once when he was just a vego and thought will cook him up some fish to keep him happy . Turns out he wouldnt eat it cause it was cooked on the same plate as the meat . So he went hungry while pigged out ! He does look very pale but he would be fitter and healthier than me which wouldnt be hard even on your worse day . As for guns ( well O.F. did bring it up ) what do u guys think when theres a big school massacre or those marines got killed the other day ? Do you go for the ol " if only there was more good guys with guns " line or gee what a tragedy but you aint getting hold of my guns ? Definitely a different mentality to guns here for sure ( thank god ) and if your not careful Ill post some vids of idiots with guns and get into trouble again . At least Im out of range here in Aus unless O.F. wants to go on a road trip . Cheers

Pope I sure wish those jar heads had been packing heat. (I call them that with great affection, having served with so many on my third ship. Some were good friends.
In direct answer to your question more heat on the street, the safer things are. Sounds counter intuitive I know. But the stats back it up.
Besides it is just plain wrong to not let me (or any else for that matter) be equal to a bad guy intending me harm. I am (equal) at home, and when I get back to Texas where my heart is, you can bet your favorite Saito I will be (equal) on the street.
I almost said more, but did not want to get boot off the site.

Sure am hoping later this year to get the bearings for my Saito .65 and commence the rebuild. I already have a Frank Coleman ring sitting in a parts bin.

I find the .65 to be a nice match for my Kadet SR. If I put floats on it I might want a bigger motor. Only motor that bird has had is the Saito .65, I put so many hours on it that the motor is now begging me to rebuild. Budget has been rather limited the last couple of years so my funds end up going to other parts of the hobby.

Only thing i'll say is it doesn't matter what machine/weapon or pogo stick man ever invented people buy it and use it,most of us safely and we are in the vast majority.It's those vegetarians cowering in the corners busy electricuting themselves with failsafe appliances you need to watch out for i reckon.
