It doesnt matter how he was killed that really matters . Theres 30000 lions and how many humans on earth ? So as callous as it may sound losing some of the human population that seem to thrive on the hunting $ isnt that great . What if the local crack dealer moves in next door are you going to say he's only supplementing his income and give him the thumbs up when u see him washing his hummer with his crack *****s listening to 50 cents? Thats where this conversation is going, right in the can. Anyway, FG-11 supposedly based on FA-62. What other Saito are upwards of the 65 size? Thought I could squeeze a OS 70 on a Somthin Xtra, but its too big. FG-11 case is the correct size, but its already married to my T-Clips. OS-52 is too small for it too. It will fit, but it will be anemic in flight.

Maybe that round would take out an armadillo? A .38 didn't.

A Texas man was wounded after he fired a gun at an armadillo in his yard and the bullet ricocheted back to hit him in his face, the county sheriff said Friday.
Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe said the man, who was not identified, went outside his home in Marietta, Texas, at around 3 a.m. local time Thursday morning. He spotted the armadillo on his property and opened fire.
"His wife was in the house. He went outside and took his .38 revolver and shot three times at the armadillo," Rowe said.
The animal's hard shell deflected at least one of three bullets, which then struck the man's jaw, he said.
The man was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where his jaw was wired shut, according to Rowe.
The status of the animal is unknown.
"We didn't find the armadillo," the sheriff said.

It's one motorcycle i regret selling now,they had a unique exhaust howl and induction noise when the rev counter swung past 4800,the kawasaki 500 mach 111 h1a with nuetral at the bottom of the gearshift pattern and drum brakes,had two h1b's as well and two 750 mach 4 triples as well as the 350.I finally wised up and bought a z900 back in 75.
Trev without wishing people any harm it never ceases to amaze me that people seem willing to switch off survival instincts when faced with animals that don't look like bambi,or the ex handbrake for that matter.

Hey how about those Saito glow engines? Pretty sweet aren't they? The two chrome valve covers make them look killer, and that sound... sounds like an airplane instead of a toy.

Richard as you know we don't get armadillo's over here but they look suspiciously like hair lice seen under a magnifying glass,good thing they never grow that big in your underpants...be a bit dangerous shooting them there.

acdii, when I am looking to fit bigger Saitos into an engine bay I have a look at what engines can fit into that mount. I am not in my shed but I think that you might be able fit a 72 in the hole (mount). These new case Saitos come with the same bearer dimensions but bigger cylinders, just a thought.

Pope, I gotta agree with you a little on the lion issue. If you live around them, then they're fair game in my book. Now don't go thinking I'm a tree hugger or Bambi sympathizer. It's not the same thing if you're a dentist flying halfway around the globe to do it that way that rankles me a bit. Did you really call me a dick?
KC- seriously, I agree with you. Saitos have a distinctive look to them. It's always a bit sad to see the rocker covers hidden up inside of a cowl. I don't know of another complete line of engines that have the same level of good looks on every engine.

I got the OS 70 to fit the stock mounts. The tank is a little low, but should run with the pressure feed. It isnt much higher than on my LT-40.

Big jugs are ok when new, but when they get old they tend to sag..........Then they need a rebuild and are no longer the same. I prefer moderate sized twins, they last much longer.

Hey Cougar. Thanks for the help. I did have the O ring and it fit just as you suggested. I started the engine and the LSN is snug inside the hole. I ground tested it but it was too windy to fly yesterday. Thanks for everything.. you too Pope and everybody else who lent their .02.

Richard what about the anodized red custom ally rocker covers,finned too and big bragging rights as apparently synthetic sticks to them and castor does not

I have a few saito engines most run Great with not any problems.
I have a fg 21 gas engine that I had a problem with on Saturday.
I took one flight with the plane and everything was fine engine ran great,
Took a brake and flew another plane,
Went back and started the Saito again ans it started up no problem as soon as I push up the trottle the engine came apart. the cylinder head broken off from the bolts and it broke the piston and ring! I also notice that the crankcase housing broke when the cylinder bolt attach.
I am sending it back to horizon the see what they say,
Just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem?

I saw some of those red covers.. pretty sharp sticking out the top of the cowl. I am going to get some blue ones, they match my plane better than red would

Js Brogna, I have seen cylinder separation like you described one was a saito twin where one cylinder was leaned right out (little to almost no fuel= no lubrication) and the other was a McCoy 60 that blew he cylinder right of the crankcase once again running to lean. In the later case the fuel was pressure delivered from a pacificer but the engine was running at peak plus rpm and about 1 turn open on the needle valve. Lots of go for about 10seconds then raining bits of metal. On another note I have acquired a Taipan 1.5 glo (not diesel) engine, vary rare it would appear.

My grandfather raced home built wood hydroplanes fitted with hopped up Evinrude 22 hp outboards in his youth. Unless they ran long bolts and plates across the horizontally opposed cylinders, they would blow the cylinders off the case. He never told me what they ran the engines on. Maybe homebrew corn squeezings? Sorry I even suggested that Gramps, you were my best friend growing up and taught me more than you ever knew. He also rode a Henderson MC. He lived to be 97!
