Vert if it's upside down choke it till it squishes or if you can't see the engine,a drop of gas hits the ground.Igniton on and flick it.

I have found with the glow Saito's they tend to like hand starting with a back flip. On the FG 30 you would pull it through compression to go through the hall sensor I take it? I am all about hand starting engines, prefer it honestly, but the 4 strokes I always preferred an electric starter. Hoping the FG 30 is a good hand flipper.

It might need the electric starter for the first start of the day, but one fuel is in the system it should hand start easily. That hs been my experience W/CDI/glow fuel and the gas carburetors probably need a little priming for cold starts too..

This is true for the FG-11. Once it has juice in the carb, it will start with one or two flips, though for safety reasons I still use a starter. The only engine I have no choice but to hand start is my DA 100.

There you go, you just answered your own question. You tuned it upright, which puts the tank in a different position than when inverted. You need to retune to match the tank position. Start with a half tank and go from there. Tuning can be a real biotch at times, but once you get it, they go a lot easier.

Enough already , what is it kick the pope day or something ? If you must know when the pope was born he was so ugly he slapped himself in the face . Yes to flipping the gas engines forward and glow engines i bounce back off the compression,they start readily.You can start the 182 glow twin and the 200r3 by flicking them in the direction they would normally run.All the saito singles are treated with the respect they deserve when hand propping.My fg57 can be casually and slowly turned over by hand safely with the igniton switched on.If you give it a decent flip exceeding 800rpm (easy to do) it will arm the ignition and fire the engine.This can be done while holding a beer in the other hand.I like it loud on the shotgun pipes and am reluctant to move away and go to the fridge which reminds me popey..peach fish is the name of my favourite wine,you got taste mate

I do like the direct fit 100, but for some projects the 91 is the perfect match.

FA-100 is NOT a direct fit for the 91S. The FA-115 is.

I just took a few minutes, 35 minutes in truth and ran an old .65 I in which I installed new Boca Bearings. Despite the ancient design of the carb and 12.7 to1 compression it indeed ran like Swiss watch.


Engine===early Saito .65
Fuel=====Wildcat 2/4 10% with 18% full synthetic
Plug=====Fox Miracle
Prop=====Bolly 13.5x6
Exhaust==new style caste, "revised" muffler
Max rpm=9,600 a little rattily. richened to 9,500 for smooth as silk
Idle=====2,150 again nice and smooth.

It's 41 degrees here, 35 minutes was enough of that. No today pictures.

Can anyone tell me if I inverted saitos need to be primed?

If your tank is to high they tend to prime themselves and become difficult to start.Flip the model over and try starting as usual.

Dave what are you doing with that 65? I assume you aren't running any nitro because if you are you sure as hell aren't really trying. What sort of Bolly prop, the sportsman? My "sports" figures with a 13 x 6 APC are 11,500rpm with 10 % nitro and 10,500 easy with no nitro. It will take 20% nitro with no worries and 20% oil and run well. With a 13x6 carbon prop and 30% nitro 13,000rpm is easily obtained.

I use throttle trim to shut mine down & that eliminates any siphoning. I use an electric started for the 1st start of the day to get things juiced up only cracking the throttle just before I start to spin it over. That routine works well W/inverted Saitos

Bolly Clubman 13.5x6 10% nitro, considering that an .80 turns a 13x6 at 9,700 I figure 9,500 on a .65 with a 13.5x6 is pretty good.

These are my numbers from a few years ago on the .80 with 15% Wildcat.It was a discussion in Tachometer readings Forum. The same 13.5x6 Bolly.

Earl, your numbers coincide with mine. Yesterday I ran my old high compression .80.
Fuel=== WildCat 15% 2/4 with 18% all synthetic.
