Well I'm not sure what I should see, but the chrome is plenty shiny without grooves or gouges.

I bet someone went home with a sad sack face the day that bit the drink . The fact that you even got it apart says something although until all the bits are nice and clean its hard to tell what you got . I agree with old fart ( did I just say that ) in that there s probably been some castor in the fuel . Those valves look a little ugly but they may clean up . Just be gentle , try using a scotch brite pad 1st and see what happens . NO grinders !!!

lol... I think I may have mis-communicated my intentions vis this little motor. I just want to make it a runner, as for flying with it?... No probably not, I'll probably do as you suggest and get a little trainer and keep this as a display/talking piece. My mates at the whiskey club have an intense interest in seeing things along with it.

'Vis this little motor' is an electrical term popey i think we got us a troll it may be a high compression 150 so he should'nt ever try and start it.According to dave these things fire props into the next door neighbours yard and phnut!.. when you're this old who wants to walk that far.Apart from that wayne the pope is offering you good advice. If it seems funny to you, that we are interested, don't panic mate,it's an interesting post and may wake a few snorers up.Now give yourself a kick up the bum and get er done or give it to dave,he likes chasin props dang ornery things they are.

Interest is what I was hoping for, and friendly advice! Like, how to clean the rust stains and gunk out of the intakes.

It looks salvageable to me but I'm a savior of hopeless engines and people some times.

Oh don't feel to responsible about things dave and popey was just kiddin when he said his handbrake drinks a lotta booze..she's been guzzlin it for years.Just got a brand new harley streetbobber in the shop for a paint job so will post some pics in a few weeks. It's going to be brushed satin steel on the bottom half and satin checkerplate on the top with a riveted belt thru the middle if i get my way on design.Just thought i'd say that now so it gives you heaps of time to adjust to seeing a hog painted like that

Okey Dokey Pete, question, my bike colors are Light Green Envy and Dark Green Envy, if you were asked to paint these primer black Corbin bags what color combo would you suggest. I don't think I'll ever do this, the bags are $1400.00 + and the paint is $150. per pint. Fun question though.

I may test a Saito .65 and an Enya .80 today using a 13x6 prop and with and without a TurboHeader.

I never thought i'd say this, bloody good photo of your bike colour.Looked it up today on our standox system computer and we don't have it,now i've seen the bike colour properly we did'nt get them in those colours.Normally you would paint the saddlebags to match the bike.If you wanted to have some creative fun pull out the buegler paint pen and lay some nice pinstripes down. That's an interesting exhaust on the enya..tell all

Popey i'm trying to think of something witty and insulting to say about you but i'm stuck, can you help a mate out?

Thanks Pete, that seems to have been a 2 month run color in March and April of 2007, the color only came on the top model of each model, 1200 Custom, Dyna Glide Custom etc.

That is a Mac's tuned quiet pipe, it quiets engines to a soft purr but does not alter performance on a fourstroke.

Hello Saito specialists.
a question from a friend.
he has a nib 150SGK with a "D" on the engine.
His question what is the difference between 150s and 150H inside the engine.

That engine may become a challenge just to see it you can get it to run. I would go as far as feasible myself. Still, very interesting pics.

I'm glad you got your jollys the other day, Pete. I took the S 2000 out the other day and all of my fun spots for stomping on it were clogged up with 5 PM traffic. Never did get to red line it anywhere.

Lars if the 'd' is so important to see for your mate i'd suggest he re stamps it on the back of the engine if he wants to look at it while the 150 is running. That's where i'd wanna be and it gives you good line of sight to see where the prop has gone.

Link, this is supposedly the first 1.50S sold, according to a lady at Horizon, it has no letter designation, it has an 11.24 to 1 compression ratio. The next series marked (B) on the right lug had lower compression. Don't confuse the latest 1.50B model with the early B. Note different cam housing on the latest B series. Picture #1.

That's all fine and dandy for you guys to frivveloosley discuss at arms length on a forum, how about expressing that loose bowel movement that the 150 gives when you are dead sure it's tuned right and warmed up? and it goes 'clack' (backfire in american english i hope)and the prop whizzes over the fence and nails the nextdoor neighbours tomcat i hope.

+1 to that except the first problem is starting the sucker. Hard to start it from behind. I started a friends 150 when they first came out. Double nutted it and tightened both with a 10 inch box wrench. Adjusted it per the guides before starting. His 12 volt e starter on 24 volts would not turn it over (should have tried using a car battery). i put on very heavy leather gloves and flipped that bad boy quickly trying to get out of the prop arc. Was not fast enough!! It backfired, threw the prop 15 feet, after almost taking off my fingers. Found the prop and washer and nuts. Next try was flipping back against compression which worked very well. After a few tanks, could start it with e starter. It was always dangerous, even more so than the FA 180 he had. He sold it soon after.

I never blame an engine for anything, it's always me that is at fault when an engine misbehaves. At 11.24 to 1 compression ratio my 1.50 commands respect. Of course C&H Ignition has turned it into a ***** cat. My newly rebuilt Enya .80 kicked back Wednesday and rid itself of both nuts and the prop, luckily I found it all still in the neighborhood. A backfire is an exhaust system explosion caused by an overly rich exhaust on deceleration on older carb equipped engines. Gasoline powered Farmall tractors were especially good at backfiring.

Does a backfire occurs in the exhaust system itself (like maybe the muffler or catalytic converter) or is it in the combustion chamber?
I had a ('70s) toyota station wagon that would spectacular backfires. And even more cool when I learned how to make the happen on command.
The converter clogged up so I punched out all of the catalytic goodies leaving me with just an empty chamber. Also had a issue with the carb the it would dump to much fuel into the engine if you quickly removed your foot from the gas pedal.
I found I could floor the pedal then get off it producing an awesome backfire. At night you could see a ball of fire behind the car.
Fantastic in traffic. If you wanted to merge into the next lane and there was car in the way, Well BABMAMMMM! They would get out of the way real quick. If a car was tail gating, well BABAMMM!!!
Great fun.
Might get you shot or maybe arrested today.

My st 3000 was a scary dude when I first got it. Vicious kickbacks and thrown props. Electric starter, yeah right sherlock. Had to hand flip it. Finally learned to back flip it against compression. Worked a charm.

My 100 was like that at first, you tried hand starting it by flipping and it would bite you, I found a tap in reverse was all it took to start it, now I start it with my Estarter adn I dont even know if its running until I pull the starter off as it idles lower than the starter spins. Love that 100.

My FA-1.50, bought new when they first came out, was notorious for throwing props. Even with the conical jam nut that it was equipped with it still loosened up the prop. I could start it OK by flipping it backwards, but if it went lean and detonated in flight we'd be looking for the hardware. I put a CH ignition and a spacer under the jug on it; that calmed it down. Then, since I had ignition on it, I tried burning gasoline in it with the stock carb. A 16:1 gas to oil mix worked well. It was down a few revs and ran hotter but ran OK. Flew it on gas in an Ace 4-120 Bipe all summer. Then, just for grins I went back to 10% alky. Then I took out the shim. Then I went back to glow. It runs great now, still in the bipe. I figure I finally broke it in running it on gas. Funny......

Charley, does yours any letter stamped on the right mounting lug, my early one has none, yours may be the high compression one like mine. They had chrome rocker covers rather than the later gold ones.
