I have had a go at exactly that. Nothing seemed to happen tho. spent a good day or so of boiling at 50:50 water glycol mix.

Bake the parts at 275 on a clean pan and then wipe clean and then wipe on after run oil.

That doesn't agree with what my research has found out so far. According to the guy who runs this site: http://saito-engines.info/index.html
all the 1.50 engines manufactured for import into the USA were built to the same specs. I'd like to run this down to my satisfaction.

Mind telling me where you got your info about the lower CR?

Charley,my source was just the talk on here, you may very well be right, a hint, (to myself), might be that when I bought a new cylinder for my 1.50 I was concerned that the compression might be reduced, it was not.. I ham fisted the intake threaded boss right of of it..A $114.00 lesson.

That is a great site, we should refer folks to it more often, Thanks

My good friend w8ye reminded yesterday that I may have two Saito .30's and two FA .40 a's, I gotta go look.
Nice pic dave i can't believe they make engines that powerful and compact.I'd do a refresher course wheelies, hooning in general, followed by a good acting course or two for when the cops light you up,just flip straight back to pensioner mode and say you just bought it and what just happened scared the bejeezuz out of you.It does'nt hurt to tremble a bit while dribbling, mind you i've got a head start on most, ain't had a ticket for a while..

ps acdc don't cook that stuff inside

As I recall, all references to the crock pot/antifreeze cleaning method say to "NOT BOIL THE MIX". It has been said that boiling will discolor the aluminum metal being cleaned. Good luck.

Also you say "glycol", you mean ethylene glycol, not propylene glycol, right?

I maidened my Great planes cub today with a saito 100 and a master airscrew 15x6 and I was lucky to get it airborne the power was just enough to keep it flying. I changed it out for a 14x6 and problem solved. The plane flew great. Thanks for all the help I received in this thread.

That seems backward Jammer, the 14x6 is too small for the 1.00. A 14x8 is more like it.

Hi guys,

I just went to Horizon Hobby to look something up on my 125 Golden Knight. I see that the plain 125 is still carried, but they don't seem to list the Golden Knight version (though they do have parts). Any thoughts on what might have happened, or am I just looking in the wrong place??

You're right, no GK shown or even comes up on a search. They are identical other than the color.

+1,and for the 115 a 14x8 is on the small side but an apc 14x10 is hard to beat.

Popey they make big fat moto guzzi's to make european cops look smaller and we don't have police motorcycles here that are that slow

The demand for GK might have been so low they couldn't justify stocking it. Face it in a lot airplanes the engine is hidden under the cowl and no one gets to see the pretty black paint and gold rocker covers.

AH, thats why you build a plane around the motor! I stuck the 100 GK on my Cub just so you could see the motor. I wish I had a GK twin that would have fit the plane, then it would look perfect.

Speaking of Saito, what can I use to extend that exhaust pipe on the 45 out the cowl? Its just a straight pipe but not long enough to get out the cowl of the Citabria. I goofed on the installation of the FW though, the engine sticks forward an 1/8" more then it should, used the wrong spinner.

A straight piece of grey silicone tubing,i keep it as short as possible. Not sure on the exhaust thread size of a 100 but i use one of the standard long exhaust pipes supplied with the 182 twin on my 82 in the deccy.A pity saito don't make a gk version of the old style 90 twin.I have a plain silver 220 inverted in a 72" percival mew gull(thirties monoplane record breaker)and you can see the silver colour of the engine thru the vertical cowl slot, looks more scale.

Pete, if you're alluding to the older .90 T that is now a 1.00 T I suppose one could buy the gold rocker covers and have an almost GK. On the TS .90 you'd have to brew your own gold covers. Someone had asked a while back how a Fox Miracle Plug sat in a combustion chamber, picture #1.
Picture #2 is my 1.00 T.

I've looked up the cylinder before but never with a plug in,does the end stick out as far as it looks, how much does that miss the piston by? i like those brass? intake tubes on the 100t.
Saw a motoguzzi norge today at the mundaring weir pub in the carpark, they look comfortable but at 650 pounds to heavy for me to pick up.

Thanks Pete, the tubes are HS brass tubing, the plug snout's lowest edge is about even with the curved edge of the valve pocket.

PS, I'm asking my son to get this for me for my birthday next week. 1,699 cc, (104 cu. in.) a Triumph Thunderbird Night Storm.

So where do I get the tubing from? I want to do the same for my DLE30, the exhaust needs some way to be routed out the cowl so I dont have to cut it, I also flipped the muffler 180* so I dont have to chop up the firewall. I want to run it up over and around the engine, and have it exit the rear of the plane. Going to see if I can find some 3/4" aluminum tubing to run down the bottom inside the fuse with a turn out where it exits the real plane. I would do a canister, but dont wish to spend more money than I have to, and heard the headers tend to crack over time. If I can find silicone tubing, this would be the best option.
