My dad had a Crosley and I think it was this model. I was real young then and I don't remember it ever running. There were so many cars in and out of our house every week but the Crosley was always parked out back. I have a plastic AM tube radio that is a Crosley by the same company and in about the same condition as this pic.

Too bad you still don't have the car looking at what a Crosley goes for now!

My uncle had a new Crosley; it replaced a Bantam. I remember riding in both, especially one time when the Bantam quit running. The same uncle got a Bantam roadster a few years ago and completely restored it.

My first boss after college was an electrical engineer that had worked for Crosley before he opened his own engineering firm. His job at Crosley was to take a working radio design and start removing parts until it did not work anymore, he then put the last part removed back in to get it to work again. He would then do the same with the next stage or circuit until it also quit working. The resulting minimal part design would work, but it had no redundancy, and was not very reliable.

Sears was selling Crosleys when I was a teen. Our next-door neighbor worked for Sears - Roebuck. They didn't have them in stock in El Paso, TX, where I lived. Took about a week to get one. Never saw the wagon but saw a few of the sedans.

There was a Crosley Hot Shot sports roadster that I last saw one of parked in a yard for a long time in 1962. Looked a little like a Frog-Eye Sprite.

The AMC Pacer was even uglier and the doors were even two different sizes. Then if you want the king mack daddy of all ugly cars lets talk about the Yugo. I read an article in a car magazine and the review road with a salesman in a brand new right off the lot Yugo, they got to the first stop light and the windshield fell out!

Dave i have to pull your leg about the 125 mongrel things they are throw it in the bin.For a bit more money you could buy a small trailer for the hogly and theme it like this paint scheme with a jack daniels or jb sticker on the side, could even carry some booze in it,not that YOU would but shoot i would, tap on the back too.

Hey there Pete, I already have a trailer for the bike, for wood hauling and lawnmowers, tillers etc. The trailer is made by WW in Oklahoma. It has electric brakes and wheel bearings like an 18 wheeler. Right now it has about 1,500 pounds of wood in it. Over the last few months I have replaced all it's lights with LED's.
You don't give the 1.25 enough credit.

Pete- I have no idea where the pic came from except a Google search. I have some nice art deco radios here. I guess I have 60+ from the period and some have been restored. They are all over the house as my wife likes the look too. I have a couple of 'morale' radios from the early '40s. They were built cheap enough for soldiers to buy them during the war, thus improving morale as they had no news.

I found a Sig Sky Ranger yesterday that I had built for the school where I taught r/c building and flying for a few years. This was to be a demo model so I put my best into the model but made to changes to the design. It's like the new Sig 4*20 by being mostly for electric and built way too lightly. The good news is that I have a new model 95% built but too light for glow. At least I had the motor, ESC, and all the other stuff ordered and it's here. I don't think I'll have to pay for anything except a replacement main gear. The wire ones with the kit are too flimsy. If I had an old FA-30 that ran sweet and smooth I may try it but I'm don't complete trust it to survive vibrations from glow. Grrrrr.

The All American five AM receiver, I built one in electronics school, then, (at home) then an Allied Knight kit FM receiver and a Knight kit amplifier with twin 6973 beam power tubes operating in push pull. The single 15" speaker would move nails in and out on the walls.

Dave- exactly right for most of them- all American fives but I do have some really good Zeniths, etc that actually have little slug racks and 7 tubes. I'm getting out of the antique radio hobby and have a few thousand tubes to sell. I'll keep enough to keep the fleet afloat but it's going to be a major sell off.

I'm trying to remember the details of the 6973. I know I have some and the first site I just checked had them for $80 apiece.

Barry you'll be a bloody millioniare..can't even spell it,when you sell all the tubes alone just kidding. They are the ones i used to watch as a kid looking into the back of a plugged into the mains old four valve radio.A pretty glow and a faint crackle to boot. When the radio was switched off i could'nt help myself and delved deeper, that's when i found out what capacitors do,never been the same since.Which reminds me if you can get hold of a saito 30 please do you are in for a surprise. It will pull a 5" wingspan rainbow superlight vertical lots of people have seen it and smile.Almost no vibration,it's only swinging a tiny 10x6 mas classic which it will prop tip rip at over 10500 easy on 10%...or so give it a whirl if you can find one.

Dave that is one flash motorcycle trailer with really good electric brakes i hope,i'd hate to wear it when someone pulls out in front of you what's the stopping distance like..better or worse? reason i ask is that now we are in the modern jet age international travel is a given..same as international licences. You meet born and bred right hand of the road drivers in the funniest places in a left hand drive country.

ps this will be the last woody pic i promise..

Thanks Pete, those trailer brakes capable of stopping too good, 19 to 21 on the brake controller is about as high as is safe with light to no loads. 23 is as high as I've ever set it with a heavy load of wood. When I haul the Sporty the lowest setting is fine. I reduce it to 17 in the rain.

The Saito .30 is a cute little secret weapon, with a Graupner 10.5x5 it will haul an LT 25 out of 2" grass in about 4 feet. Picture #2 is with a 8x6 three blade. Barry, the 6973's could be found in Gretsch and Magnatone amplifiers, you have to be careful when buying one, there are fake ones that are triodes as opposed the real ones being pentodes.

Pete, here is a tachymometer picture of the Saito .30 turning the 10x5, to me 11,000 plus is a little scary so I stick to 10x5.5 or 9.5x6. I sold this particular Golden knight and now have two plain Jane's on which the cylinders are painted black, one by WR and the other by me.
