Man you weren't kidding. Looks like he enjoys diesels. Crazy old man holding a running engine in one hand.

Re running the diesel in his hand - a few of us at high-school brought small diesels/glowies to school and ran them hand-held mounted on a small piece for 3-ply (to mount the motor & small clunk tank on, and to give you something to hang on to at the same time).

Mine was a Taipan 2.5cc nitro - I've still got that thing in as-new condition in a drawer somewhere...

...don't think I'd be game to do the same thing with my Saito 180 4-banger though...

Barry, the 1.00 originally had a pump on the right cam cover, the owner removed the pump and switched out the cam cover. The later 1.00's don't have the pump, it works fine without it.

The pump doesn't affect "running". It is employed to help vent the case since the single throw crank has both pistons traveling in the same direction canceling out any positive/negative pressure pulses.

If one employs some sort of fogger to prevent rust, the pump isn't really of any benefit.

I pump it in the rear where the pump used to connect until it comes out the front vent, flip a couple of times and done.

acdii- guess you're talking about a handgun since you are threatening to pull it out. As for Magnum engines, I've liked all that I've tinkered with or flown. I would certainly opt for a Magnum over that brand won't be mentioned.
Barry that could be castor leaking out of the engine to give it that colour, did'nt spot a grey apc prop tho.Acdc it's you and me at thirty paces outside tho ok coral.Beats listening to gunsmoke on the old bakelite valve radio back in the fifties.

I found this stuff for less than $6 at the local Advance Auto. Last fall, I force spayed it into the vent on my FA-180/FG-57 hybrid with the piston @ BDC & let it force the piston up and saw it bubble out around the push rod tubes.

I haven't had time since my surgery to pull the back plate off to inspect the bearings after I stored the Rascal 110 W/the engine in an unheated shed for the winter..

Pete- I don't know as I'm a big radio head. I listened to some of Radio Australia last night as it comes in very loud and clear. Seriously, they had a segment about worm farming as therapy on last night. They get news about the U.S. kinda screwed up a lot though. I had a friend who was getting worse with Alzheimer's quickly and I would sit and watch TV with him sometimes so his wife could have a few hours to shop. It was always Gunsmoke and Bonanza for him every day.

I once saw an add in the back of a hunting/fishing magazine for "Carter Worm Farms, Plains, GA." I always wondered of Joimmy gave up peanuts to rise worms.

As far as the FA-180/FG-57 hybrid? That is old news . An easy plug & play swap that will turn an 18 x 8 at 8250 RPM with CDI & 15% nitro.

Good for 250 RPM over a stock FA-180/CDI & about 500 RPM over a stock FA-180/GI. All you need is an FG-57 piston. Uses the same ring & no clearance problems.

Apparently over here we have the worlds largest earthworms at around twelve feet long.If you are standing over a spot they are tunneling thru you can hear them,a faint harley sound minus the crashing gearshifts they say.I thought it was you who was fitting 180 barrels to an fg57 case but it must have been someone else.My 182 twin would pull 8500 on a mas classic 18x6 @ 10% it's a nice sounding engine at idle.

Popey you are a disgrace to humanity..here's acdc saying he's got the tremors bad and what do you care? acdc don't worry mate even if it sounds like the early onset of parkinsons disease it may only be triggered by temporary alzheimers if you'll let me explain.A few years back i hand started the mighty zues 220 single for a second time on the test bench after a careful prime and a few flicks to hopefully spread the fuel equally around the engine then i got a temporary attack of alz and forgot to shut the throttle when i hooked the glo stick up and flicked it backwards, you can guess the rest, but that's really what can give you the tremors...

Hey there fart ,I've been trying to turn the other cheek but my patience wore out . I think acdcr2d2 was referring to the movie tremors but I could be wrong .What size gun do u need to get rid of your worms ? While I won't insert the weapon I would get great pleasure in pulling the trigger. Cheers the pope

It would be difficult to fit either FA-180 or FG-84 barrels to an FG-57 due to the fact that the twin needs the intake & exaust port in a mirror image to plumb the exhaust pies out the bottom & intake manifold out of the top.

The FG-61 jugs are a larger bore than either of the above.

The FG-57 has a slightly longer stroke than the FA-300T and would slightly increase both displacement and compression ratio if it were fitted to an otherwise stock FA-300T..Then of course, if the cylinder base bolts are on the same centers, the FG-61 crank & jugs would yield an FA-360T. Now that might be worth exploring with the dual methanol carbs of the FA-300TTDP!

It takes about 3.2 HP to pull 8250 W/an 18x8 @ 8250 RPM.
It takes slightly more than 2.6 HP to pull an 18x6 @ 8500 RPM
