That fa360t sounds like something you'd like to hear in a good edge or similar just to hear it guzzle and spit fuel, that would have some bark.

ps acdc put your mothers makeup and coloured contact lenses back in mums draw real quick! you know what happened last time you got caught

With CDI, straight methanol & 10% lube an FA-360TTDP would probably get surprising fuel economy.

Probably make more HP than an FG-84R3

So the Rascal 168 calls for a 50-60CC gas engine. What Saito would be a good match for this? Would like a twin and probably go CDI(maybe get an FG and swap the carb out for Nitro).

The fg57 would fly the sig rascal very well with a cylinder poking out each side, don't forget to allow for the offset when you cut the cowl. That engine is based on the 'old' 300 nitro twin and if you've ever bench run one of those you will know how much i look forward to a 360 version if they ever make them. You'd be bulk buying nitro if you did'nt think seriously about cdi and straight methonol.I'd run nitro because i like the animal that that lets out.

ps captain shush up or you'll have sr batting on about cdi for months

Pete, re CDI, have you ever seen these on a Harley, they sit on the spark plugs like many modern coils do. They come in silver/natural. all black and black with polished edges like my cylinders are. Made by Accell.

Many consider things like Cline regulators, CDI and other accessories to be, (something else that could go wrong), but a well made product makes things go right.

Still kicking myself for not buying that almost new 300 for $300 when I had the chance, but what held me back was the fact it would suck fuel like a kid sucks Mountain Dew. Whatever I get for it will be a Saito though, no other engine would do it justice, especially not a 2 stroke chainsaw. Of course first things first, i have to actually buy the plane when its available. Already have $100 down on it. Then I have to find a bedsheet to cover it with, maybe two of them. Its a big sucker.

I am looking for a .60 twin, even well used they are pricey, so as in your case, first things first. Our little 9 mo. old gets what she needs first.

The prettiest saito twins to me are the 60 and 90 they look nice.Dave there's been a rumour round for quite a while that harley has built a 107ci they call the milwauky 8 referring to a new four valve head like the v rod but no porsche designed overhead cam high revver, instead it will be a low revving pushrod v twin so they will run a third cam.

ps popey i'm posting you a brand new tube of lipstick buddy

Yes sir, the .90TS even dresses u[ an old Joss Stick.

Re the Milwaukee 8, it seems to be true, parallel pushrod tubes indicate dedicated intake and exhaust cams per the write up.

I have a 27 year old C&H module that has been through numerous crashes (one a straight in WOT total loss of the airframe) that still works perfectly.

The only "failure" I have had with CDI was spark plugs fouled due to oil collecting during storage. They would sometimes fail to start on the 1st session after storage. Paying attention to the orientation of the cylinder head during storage eliminates that problem & I keep a spare plug soaking in a small bottle of acetone just in case.

As far as the switch being a source of failure? I use the same switches as used for the Rx. If the same switches are unreliable we would have lots of radio failures.

To maintain the battery pack, I use Nmh packs & alternate between charging the Rx & Ig packs between flights.

A 750Mah Nmh pack will run a single cylinder module for about 45 minutes @ 10,000 RPM.

The front port/switch is for the Ig, the 2 rear ports are redundant Rx circuits. I use 2000 Mah AA Ig pack for nose weight behind the firewall.

My FA-300TTDP (dual carbs) uses 1.5 oz of 15% nitro Cool Power per minute @ WOT W/CDI. That's no worse than n FA-150 on GI.

Eliminate the nitro & reduce the lube & you would see even better fuel economy. Rather than converting an FG-57 to methanol, I would convert an FA-300T to CDI. If you still want to go FG to methanol, opt for the FG-61 that has the same stroke as the FG-57 W/a larger 37.2" mm bore & adapt the 12 mm FG-220 Big Bore carburetor. That should make at least 6 HP.

Saito opinion question! For sometime I have been planning a project to build a quarter scale Globe Swift I already have the short kit, fiberglass cowling retracts, and now I need to power this sucker. I would prefer to go with a single cylider engine to keep the cost down. What would be the best choice for a slightly draggy 1948 low wing airplane weighing in at the 22 lbs. mark? Let the argument begin!!!!

Ok dave i've had time to look them up as i hav'nt seen them on a harley here.At around 200 dollars they seem to be good value,a neat looking piece of kit and a better spark while cleaning up the wiring loom ?

Okc that globe swift is a very pretty aeroplane that deserves something like a saito 220 zues ? it would be a shame to see a cheap gas two stroke single in one.
