The ones with the most airtime are the Saitos. Most reliable engines I have, as long as they get Wildcat. Guys at the field always comment on how well my engines run too. They are gas guys with DA and DLE in their 3D bombers. I'm the only one who still flies glow there, the rest converted to gas or electric. Thats actually a good thing, I have received several free gallons of fuel too. Next year before SIG, I will pre-order a case of their full synthetic, since their 50/50 castor syn fuel is not working well in my engines, and they were out last flyin.
Speaking of SIG, rumor has it the Rascal 168 will start shipping first week of November. Already cleared most of my benches in prep for it, just have to find a place to store what is left on my main build board.

Just this last weekend my friend and I had a terrible time with a couple gas engines. Never did get one running. Grabbed the hog with the saito and away we went. But then I have always had good luck with glow. And we don't want to talk about electric.
As far as the 168 goes yes there working on try to get it out the first week in November. I stopped in and picked up fuel and talked to them about it. I to had my bench cleared off tell my daughter decided to build a four-star 20. But that should not take long.

I wouldn't know were to start to decide which kit to build first. I do have a something extra ARF that I won at sig. It will be funn to add another green something extra to the fuild. I just can't decide how much power to put it in it. 56. 72. Or 82.

no power, sputter at full throttle, poor idle. Drain the tank, fill with Wildcat and once the new fuel reaches the carb, it runs fine. This happens in all the Saito, but the OS runs just fine on it.

Since this is a Saito thread I have an old Saito 120 from the straight pipe days will a muffler and adapter from a current model fit it? The local clubs are so narrow minded about running unmufflered engines they can see thru a keyhole with both eyes at the same time! As you can see it needs a little cleaning but the price was right. If I can't find a muffler I will have to sell it.

I'm going to sell off 3 new Evolution .46NT engines. I think 1 is NIB and the other 2 had about 10 minutes of run time by me. I'm cutting back on engines and look to be 90% Saito when done.

Boy there is a lot to comment on here.
Let's start with acdii i run just about any kind of fuel in my saito's and they run awesome thats way i like Saito so much. The one thing i have found is they don't like a ot of oil. Tryed to run 24% oil in my 150 it didn't like that but blended it down to 18% and runs great again. You are trying to run sig 4 stroke fuel right? But do agree that the Saito's do run better on straight synthetic

You know, it could be that there is just too much oil in that SIG fuel. I think, but need to verify, it may be Champion 15.
15% Nitromethane
20% Lubricating Oils
(1/2 Castor, 1/2 Klotz)
Now the OS manual, and the Magnum manual state to use 20% oil so that could be why they run OK on it. I will run a tank of it in the Gemini and see how it runs, if it runs OK, then I can use up the gallon and a 1/4 I have left of it.

how's geri?.
Barry the small electric arf's make good conversions to the saito 30,with the rainbow superlight i left the box off the firewall and mounted the 30 straight to it.
ps acker dacker do you think it would be possible to run a saito 120 like that if you needed to have a rear exhaust?

She's fine, she had a 3 hour test the other day at Mary Washington Hospital Center, they removed two polyps and stretched her esophagus. She's doing well though.
I shy away from planes that have any kind of E designation, it's getting harder and harder to find them. Electric is a worse disease than gasoline.

Great story C-Crunch! You probably need to increase the incidence of the wing relative to the floats' centerline in order to get the wing at a positive AoA when she's up on the step. IOW, put a shim under the front float mounts.
