I have one of the first run of the .62, I had it sitting in the PSP to test with a 12x6 three blade. It's going onto a GP Cherokee 40.
I'll do a TurboHeader test when I get a few extra minutes.
I just sold my old .65 to a gent in Lawton, OK.

Fuel===Wildcat 10% with 18% full synthetic
Plug===OS-f
Exhaust=Stock
RPM at one click rich of full peak==10,150
RPM @ idle==================1,850

The guy who assembled my WM 60-size Chipmunk installed a Pitts muffler with smoke on the inverted FA-100. I gather from the amount of lead in the tail that it makes the plane very nose heavy. I have no interest in smoke and would like to lighten the plane to improve performance by replacing the Pitts muffler with a stock Saito muffler. I just spent an hour searching the web for the weight of the Pitts smoke muffler (I think it's a Slimline) but can't find it. Would one of you excellent gentlemen happen to know the weight of it?

An FA-56 would overpower any LT-40, but some people think overpowering is a good thing. A FA-62 would be fun.
Years ago a guy would visit our club with his big gasser and he was a natural 3D flyer. I don't care for 3D much, but he had a knack for making it interesting and pushing the envelope. All the old timers would stop and watch the show. One day he asked a beginner if he could fly his OS .46FX equipped LT-40 and proceeded to do rolling circles, hovering, tail slides, and all those other 3D maneuvers. We were all waiting for the wings to rip off. Inverted passes dragging the rudder thru the grass. Knife edges an inch off the ground. A bunch of us watched and were speechless. I commented that he must have had a LT-40 as his trainer and he said that was the first time he ever flew one. After watching that aerobatic display I'll never question what a LT-40 can do. I think W8YE was there that day.

When I got back into R/C back in 2004 I built an LT40 with a Super Tigre .40 and Futaba 6 channel EXA radio. The airplane's maiden flight and trimming was done by the LHS owner' son who happened to be at the field. I wanted pictures. He is former World Pattern Team member Sean McMurty, boy did he put it thru its paces. He gave me nice complement on the balancing I had done on the airplane.

I keep getting told by my friends they like watching me fly because they are waiting for the wings to come off my LT-40. Pure vertical nose dive then pull up and go straight back up in about 10'. Imagine the stress that wing has. I over built the wing though by adding more webbing than it called for. Just wait until I replace the ailerons with flaps and dual servos. I have the OS-52 on it, and would love just a little more power as I don't quite have unlimited vertical, just enough to hold it in the sky for a few seconds before the nose flops over.

Barry jim from rc specialties supplied me with two turboheader mufflers,one to suit an 82 and the other for my 220.This was a few years back and when i got the box in the post i took it out to the shed and cracked a beer.To look at they are beautifully made and the welds are a pleasure to look at...they look even better with a castor slime behind an apc 14x6,boring grey.The 220 muffler has no baffle i can see but the smaller 82 muffler has them.They make a saito sound lot's different.

Pete, the current .80 sized TH has no baffle, Jim altered either the length or the interior angle, (or both) to eliminate the need for the baffle. Do you have the large carb option with your 2.20? Thanks
Since the Fox Miracles are no longer available, I bought about 8 OS-f's. They seem to work OK.

There is an early, possibly high, (11.24 to 1,) compression ratio Saito 1.50S for sale in the Market Place. it's listed at less than half it's original price of $549.00. The ad claims it's NIB. Black with chrome rocker covers. Same original price as mine was in 199?.

I did notice those screws and look at the front of the cam cover, maybe dirty from flying.
Ac, Tower is out of the Fox Miracles, some guy on E-bay has one for $18.00.
There are plenty of other good plugs, Sonic Tronics, Saito SS, etc.

the company is at the top of the 4-stroke manufacturers.
Not that O.S. isn't, but d@mn there prices are pretty highhhh!
This is my new Saito FA-62a GK that was installed in the nose of my BH Gilmore Red Lion 46 ARF....
I wish I find some time to fire her up soon!

I used to be almost like that in the Saito direction, now I own four OS fourstrokes and 3 two strokes. My fourstrokes are an older 1.20e, a new .95v and a .56 Alpha and Saito from two little .30's to an old 1.50S. I no longer have any Enya's, Lasers or others.

Thanks. Jim (W8YE) went me his for my 82. I don't remember how the baffle got out of the engine. In the end I couldn't fit the Turboheader inside the cowl area, so it's on the shelf.
I hope this doesn't turn into an OS vs Saito war here. The OS guys will get their feelings hurt.

All I can say is that my Saitos start much easier than my OS's. I have no idea how my YS will run, its been a shelf queen since the day I bought it at a swap. My Magnums OTOH have been hit and miss, some pop right off on a back flip while others act like the OS. What gets me with the Saito, they run slower than my starter spins, so half the time they are running and I don't even know it until I pull the starter off.
With that said, I wont turn down an OS, but prefer Saito over the rest when it comes time to buy.
Still would like to know if a Saito 180 can match the output of a G23.
