Like the zanoa g23. If thats the case yeah the 180 is lighter and has more power. at least that is my experience.

The Zenoah G23 is the engine a lot of guys used on their Ziroli 101" B-25, and since I want 4 strokes on mine the 180 appears to be the proper size for it. If I can find a cheap pair and put CDI on them, then I would have good, reliable, fuel efficient engines on it.

I usually just bump the spinner with the starter and the engine is running. You're right about Saitos starting that way.

I wouldn't turn down an OS, but I would immediately put it up for sale. But, I would do the same with a couple of other brands too.

I will keep that in mind. Not in a rush right now, have a ton of work ahead of me before I will be ready for engines! Especially if that Rascal comes along.

No my 220 is stock standard,but it looks a lot different than it's smaller brothers,saito put a lot of effort into that engine.If i remember right they had a japan only? pump or remote fuelling valve??

Since you fessed up to buying os-f plugs and maybe using an apc prop or two i think i can safely tell you how i set fire to myself running my first ever saito 62 in..first ever saito i'd owned.The handbrake thought it would be a good idea to celebrate a first successful run with a glass of flaming marguerita so i had that in hand while leaning over sideways behind the engine and i copped a bit of propwash trying to see the tacho numbers better in dim shed lighting.The fireball under my nose looked bright but and smelt awful.Looked like my moustache had been hit by a 12ga street sweeper.

ps those os alpha 56"s are really impressive but i'd still trade that in on a 125

Nice pic!!! And a kit build too. It doesn't get any better than that.

OF- there's several times when I was a kid where I should have gone up in flames like a torch. There really are angels keeping guard over people. (nothing compares to the near death experiences when I discovered motorcycles at 17 years old)

Well other than the laser cutting, it is just a box of wood. No manual, just plans to work off of, and a lot of creative thinking. I discovered a lot of things I have to figure out and hand make myself on this one. There is very little detail on how to secure the outer wing panels to the center section, and the flap details are sketchy. That is just the wing, I haven't even looked at the fuse and tail yet.

I think a pair of FG-30's can fly this, and pretty sure a pair of 1.80's with CDI will fly it well. A pair of FG-40s WILL fly it, but that is a few hundred more than I can agree on yet. The 180's are easier to locate used than the Fg 30,36 and 40.

Look to the bench on the left. its hiding at the end under the plans. Now if I could only find room for all my stuff all over the benches..... I need another bench for the mill and lathe.

Mate if you ever think about immigrating here to aussie ditch the office wastepaper size bin you callin a beer fridge you'll kill our customs guys with laughter when you tell them what it is nice and cute as it looks,it has no place in a serious workshop if you bench run saitos sonny the plans should be stained with rings from ice cold cans and fit a bar with a decent brass footrail and a spitoon or two for the handrolled cubans.Seriously,don't underpower the b25 when she's finished either,if your thinking 180's fit two 220's.The idea is that you overpower them to the point that they get real twitchy to fly and that takes you back to what it felt like as a teenager when you rode suicidally fast japanese two stroke motorcycles in the 60's and 70's.If it's an arf that says 46 on the box put an 82 saito in it,if it says 120 fit a 220 and don't forget to buy some cigars and drop a bit of ash on the plans..makes it look like you've been working long hours over the plans and your friends start counting beer can rings to see how old your plans are too.

ps a free tip,open the bar fridge door early on and they won't count the rings on the plans..it's alright,your welcome.

I'm a coffeeaholic, why do you think I have 2 coffee makers in my shop, DUH! LOL My plans have coffee stains, its not warm enough down there to drink cold beer this time of year. Besides I want it to look like a B-25 and not a bleeding Picasso.

The problem right now is finding the right powerplants for it. Trying to keep cost down and right now the only Saito sold is the FG-40 in the 220 range. I haven't found a 220 yet that I can afford, and I can't afford the FG-40 either, so will just keep looking until I can find used ones that are affordable. I can probably find G26 all day long, but I hate the thought of a farting 2 stroke on a Warbird. The prototype B-25 flew on a pair of G23's, and flew well, so at least I know the minimum engine size for it.

If I find the correct size in glow, then I will convert them to CDI so hopefully they wont guzzle fuel. If I can find a pair of FG-36 at a reasonable price, those would be the perfect fit for it.

Here is .56 I got from Jim, freed up and ready to roll, the stuck valve came loose easily using Corrosion X. I installed new O-rings and gaskets since I had them It has great compression.

Now that is what I call a wing!

A buddy of mine had an old late 1950s Frigidaire refrigerator with all the racks removed as a beer fridge. He could stack cases in one at a time. He charged 6 cases plus materials to paint his friends cars. We shot Emron on two of my vehicles they paint came out great! It got to where he had to give Emron up he would be sick for 2 weeks after shooting a car.

And to think, the P-61 wing is over a foot longer. At least now I know how much room I will need to build the other plane when this one is done. I pretty much concluded that I wont be getting the Rascal 168 now. I would much rather spend the money to get this bird flying instead.

My buddy had a fridge that he drilled a hole in for the tapper and had fresh Guinness on tap all the time. It was the coolest shop ever to hang out in.

I have to think about it financially, and $800 is the most I have ever paid for a plane, and this is just a kit, still have to get covering, servos, and a motor for it. I bought the P-61 and the B-25 boxes of wood for the cost of the Rascal. It is a lot to pay for a plane that I may not like. I would really need to see this plane in flight and not on a video either. I wish they had flown them at the flyin this year.

I totally understand, this is the most I've ever spent on an airplane in my entire flying career the only way I was able to afford it was selling a bunch of stock piled engines and kits this last year.
me and my daughter hope to have it done before Sig next year and you can fly mine.
