I use a windshield, but had a Yellow Jacket get inside a short sleeved T-shirt, I had to put up with him stinging me until I could pull off and remove him. I haven't worn a short sleeved shirt since. Bumble bees are more attracted to crotch rockets since they sound the same as bumble bees.
I think your guys problem is you driving to slow.
The bugs that ever tried doing anything with me were smashed on impact.
But we do have town north of my location that raises a lot of honeybees and had so many stuck to my helmet I had to pull over and squeegee off their guts so I could see.

I have my Saito 1.50 ready to run on gasoline except for the throttle wire and the exhaust. The Delorto 10mm carb should be just right. The prop is a Mejzlik 16x8. Note that my dog's ball matches my motorcycle.
The fuel is Gulf ethanol free 89 octane with Mercury Marine oil mixed at 20 to 1.

Yeah the saito 5 cylinder radial that I heard didn't sound anything like that it was why smoother. And did not sound like you would think. But the video is still pretty cool.
On a side note a I can't believe how much the FG R90 costs but that is chump change compared to what that guys spent on his Moki.

Hey guys in new to the Saito forum, still have a Saito 50 that has never made it onto a Midwest Starduster I have. my question is I have a Sig Mid-star that I need to build and get going, I know it takes a .40ish size engine, the O.S .46 weighs 17.1 oz w/muffler, the Saito .72 w/muffler weighs 17.6 oz, would that engine be an ok application for that plane?

I have a sportster biplane with a saito 50 of it. And it flys great. Still a good engine.
And if you are planning on saito 50 in the mid star what a great combination. Good luck hope to see pics of your saito and the plane.

i look at the specs on the Minneapolis Moline and its so crazy that my zx11 ninja had a 150 horse and only weighed in at 650 pounds. But also know that is a little different rating then a big old heavy tractor that probably puts out three times that in torque.

I was driving on a country road in Germany one summer when I saw something fuzzy up ahead. I was doing about 50 mph and saw the fuzzy thing was long and moving around. Then, the cartoons of my youth flashed before my eyes and I yelled at my wife to roll up her window quick as I was doing the same. It was swarming honey bees and I drove into the rear of the swarm. They were at windshield height and soon the windshield looked like it had been painted yellow-green. The wipers just smeared the stuff as I looked out the side window to keep on the twisty road. I drove through the whole swarm from back to front and probably killed about half of them. None got in the car though and we didn't run off the road, but the car was no fun to wash.
Barry does pope really write this stuff or do we have a rogue moderator
A nice corsair vid sounds like a moki 400.After watching the approach and landing you can see why the pilot bailed beforehand.
Dave i'm going to post a short vid of the ducati..if your bumblebees sound like this i'm not going to ride over there

For sure your Duke doesn't sound like a Bumble Bee, Pete.
The gasoline Saito 1.50 was a bust. The crankcase pulses won't operate the Zama's pump I called it a Delorto above, that's not correct. I have the stock carb back on it and the timing re-set to 30 btdc.

I hope everyone noticed the flash cdi unit you have on the 150 and i like the colour,i reckon it beats the bragging rights on the anodised and finned rocker covers someone was advertising here a few years ago for saito fourstrokes, beats that hands down.I remember you flicked a prop on the 150 a while back with an earlier cdi? which reminds me..how's that grumpy old coot sr going
ps when you kark it i want your engine mount

Good morning Pete, those finned rocker covers never tempted me. The 1.50 is the very first 1.50 that Horizon shipped, Not quite a Golden Knight, Just like the later 1.20s.
Pictured is the CDI for the 1.25, note longer grub screws, they go in the groove on the 1.25's prop driver instead of on the front of the prop driver. Come on coffee, it only took three tries to get the right picture.

Not listed, you have to ask, don't take this as gospel but I think the new case engines require a larger step down from the cam box to the trigger wheel. That would be a good question for Adrian.I think it shows up here.

That really is my 1.25 Pete, the other is my early high compression .80. I was checking out the C&H units yesterday and some them have 6v check marked on the back. They seem to work fine on 4.8v though.
