Popo your having a 60"s flashback, don't worry mate it's not really happening to you just a bad dream,it's the after effects of too many trips as a teenager trust meeeeeeee

Acdc good tips for throttle set up because saito's are set back so far and close to the firewall, takes a bit of doing to get the slot cut neatly allowing good up and down movement for the golden slipper throttle cable, and being carefull it don't get hooked or snagged up on something in flight.Happened to me with the h9 taylorcraft and 182 twin, only way to find out how long it would fly at full throttle, the people watching were laughing their heads off

Once he swore there were aliens right there in front of him , and a few yrs later him and his girlfriend and a few others were around my place and there she is on her hands and knees praying to the weed god .

Oh yeh I used to play footy and after training and sat. nite we would hit the turps . We all used to drive home legless and as long as u didnt drive iike a loony the fuz would leave u alone . Different times and I wouldnt dare do it now but back then it was the done thing . No booze buses or radar guns . I wasnt a big fan of spewing , not that that would stop u but the worst is when the room starts spining and u get all dribble starts to flow . U may as well stick the fingers down the throat cause there was no going back from that . My mother tells me I used to bounce off the walls heading for the bedroom . Had a friend whose old man caught him peeing in the wardrobe he was so hammered he thought it was the dunny and a friends brother who would crap his jocks when he got plastered and would throw his jocks over the fence in the morning thinking that no one knew what he was up to . NASTY !!

That's one of the reasons my airplanes with ignition engines have a kill switch operated by my transmitter.

Aint never gonna get me on a bike, no matter who makes it, or how obnoxious it sounds, and believe me, there are a lot of them that are obnoxious. Now if it sounded like a Saito.....

That would be good too but you'd need a huge saito to move a boat anchor harley even if they are good fun to ride...it's a bit like getting caught riding riding an old italian motobecane 51v with pedals which i did as a youngster, great fun till your mates find out

Guys I purchased a 150 p-51 that came with a saito 200ti. I turned the needle to 5 turns out and starte it up and ran it like normal not thinking to ask the guy had it been broken yet . I ran one full take at full rpm at 5 turn out. Today it started up easy but I am thinking I probably did not do the engine justice if it had not been broke in by the prior owner . So today I ran another tank at the normal saito breakin setting below 4500 at 5 turns. Do you all think I harmed the engine pretty bad if it had not been broke in?

No , I think u will be fine . I can imagine that at 5 turns out that would be pretty rich . I dont have this engine and dont know roughly what the settings are . I would just do the normal break in procedure and fly that baby . Im jealus and from what Ive read its a fine engine . Cheers

Hello Everyone
I own a FA450R3 radial (methanol) and am experimenting with larger props than those recommended by the factory. Has anyone ever seen an engine review with HP and Torque Vs. rpm curves for this engine?
Best Regards
Joshua

I too doubt that you will have harmed the engine.
I bought my 200 ti in a P51 too. The previous owner hated it because it kept dropping a cylinder, and causing emergency landings.
It was because he had not done a proper run in procedure. Don't be impatient, it will be a peach after a couple of gallons of fuel have gone through it.
They take a loooong time to break in fully.I bolted mine to a 120 Ultrastick for the run in , which makes it much less stressful when it does drop a cylinder.

Ok I think I might be fine too now. I contact the guy and he said he did not know. It even know if it had been ran. I ran it around 6500 rpm for about 15-20 min and yes the rear dropped a few times . I also checked the valve lash last night and it was about .12mm so I put I into spec at .08mm but now it wants to run backwards so I a going to open it back up to .10mm. Thanks for the feedback...

rowdog_14 , you didn't hurt it. Maybe didn't help it much but it ran.

Yeah I am thinking the same now. The guy I bought if from bought it from another guy and never flew it or started it. Defiantly a different animal from the saito 100 and os 120 I had.

I think your OK. When I break in a 4-stroke,I use Omega fuel 15%. But I add almost 2 oz. of caster oil to a gallon. I have one set aside for this. I let it idle then bring up to full throttle, but I open up my needle valve to where it hardly runs.Do this for 2 min. then idle downfor a min. then open up again and run your engine sloppy and gurgles for the rest of your fuel tank. I repeat this procedhure for about 3 tanks. Then when I fly I use 15% and 18%oil,the rest synthetic. But, this is what I do. We all have to find out what our motors like and respond accordanletly. Just like my Dog,HA.

The first 10 minutes for a Saito are supposed to be at 4,000 rpm with the throttle at 1/4 to 1/3 open, not full throttle at some super rich setting.

PS, I'm going to break in this Saito .65 on Monday using Wildcat 2/4 which has 10% nitromethane and 18% full synthetic lube. It will be about the 5th (Including a 90TS and 100T) Saito I've broken in on full synthetic and all have turned out perfect. The choke shown is gone and it now wears a velocity stack.

Kapitan, vot,i am asskink,is diss can of ze vurms?

Pope i'm jealous too the 200ti sounds awesome in an offbeat way i wish saito would hook up two 220's or something bigger along the lines of how kolm engines do it.For those who hav'nt heard a kolm inline twin or triple look at the you tube vids for 'the galloping ghost' or a neat mk5 spitfire with the inline 135 twin,it's the sound of freedom

Just a note here, Your right in what your saying, but a rich mix of 15% with 20+% Caster oil ( I add extra) at full throttle, wont hurt anything. I respect your insight,I just like to get my engines oiled up good first. Nothing like caster oil for lube oil, however, If you run lean for to long, caster will carmalize on your pistin, and you will have to replace it.and your cylinder liner.
