That's kinda funny Pete about HDs out the bomb bay doors. It reminds me of a friend of mine's dad who had 2 WW2 Indians and both were in mint condition. One was still crated and one he drove around our circle once a year. I don't know why he did that or how he got them, but they were beautiful bikes being so new.

Dave i was going to make a joke with you and ask if the actors from the seventies? tv show drips,sorry chips,had posted a still on facebook,but i won't ok? how are you doing,still good riding weather over there or is it nearly winter?

Sr you know as well as others it's up to the gummint re purchasing policy but you make a good point which has endless variations depending on which economics adviser the govt believes.Do you think it's worth the bother to run a saito 30 backwards,and can it be done or are the available cams too big for the case? i have a saito 30 but won't be doing that.

Barry back in the early seventies on base most of the guys rode a bike and some raced them,i was stupid enough to swing on a racing sidecar powered by a mach 111 engine.More bruises and pain than playing close quarters paintball guns naked.There's a big white bearded guy i see in all weathers with just shorts,thongs/flipflops/jandals and navy blue singlet riding a maroon coloured ww2 indian.How he rides that home from the pub with advance/retard ign controls,foot clutch,fuel tank mounted gear change lever and wrong side throttle has got me beat

ps we did a pyscho paint job on a zx14 turbo charged kwaka with extended swingarm recently i'll post a pic but be warned,it looks like some drunk has been violently ill on it,customer wants customer gets.

Pete, I ride until it gets down to 40 F, I have fleece lined jeans and several different jackets and one pair of really fat/thick gloves. I have never rode a bike without a windshield except for my Maico. I watch Chips now and then. They sure wrecked a lot of those KZ 1000's, if that's what they were. The first bike I actually owned myself was a 1952 Indian Brave like this one, it was MFD by a British company. Powered by a 250cc flathead thumper.

RC engine wise, I just received an OS 1.20 with a pump that is neither a II nor a III and from everything I "can't" dig up on the net it appears to be a genuine orphan. I needed another toy, I got it.

Never drove with a windshield. Or, saddlebags. I only drove a raked bike once. A Triumph Bonneville. The reason I drove it was because that was my dad's bike when I was about 2 yrs old. Me and a high school buddy established all the lines of ownership and I later confirmed it with my dad. Same bike. There's a snapshot of me about 2 yrs old sitting on the gas tank. He put me on the tank and rode around that way but I don't remember much of that. Guess they would give you max voltage in the chair nowadays for taking a kid out riding like that.

Barry, when my daughter was 5 years old I'd take her on my Maico 125, she'd holler, go harder Dad, go harder, my son would holler slow down slow down. I got them a Yamaha 50 about that time. and she would slide it sideways for as long there was room to slide. She had hair halfway down her back and it would starched straight back in the wind. I wish I had pictures of that. She used to ride a Honda 650 NightHawk and my son rides a Yamaha R-1 and an FZ 1000.

Never heard of that one, other than the Earl's fork it looks a lot like a BSA Bantam. I see they had several different models, dirt, trial street etc. I found a green BSA Bantam.

I traded off my highly rebuilt Saito 1.00. I still have the C&H Ignition equipped one, I like to say that.

Geri and I are headed out to get new specs, things are getting too squinty.

I would like to thank Hobbsy for his help for the tappets that I needed for Saito 180.
I got the tappets & checked with original (7 years old 180). They were exactly same parts newer than the engine itself.
Engine repair is now complete & going on to an old Hangar 9 Twist 150.
Forgot to take picture of the engine. I will post a picture after the engine is installed on the plane.

Attached is a picture of the cam gear housing with broken gear piece stuck & locked both of the tappets.

My project for this winter is old Kyosho Cessna 172 ARF with Saito 40, Kyosho Flip 40 ARF with Saito 82.
Next weekend, I will be building a Top Flite Staggerwing Bipe with a gasoline converted Saito 180 for a friend.

That looks like an apc prop pattern do you fly mode two? i fly similar overpowered saito models,having the throttle and rudder on the same stick is handy.If you do a vid please post saito's sound more purposeful when you see them run up in a model...plus they usually make the aeroplane look and sound a whole lot better.

Barry that's a good news story tracking your old mans bike down.Same here my dad sucked his stomach in and zipped me up inside his leather jacket with just my head sticking out when i was three.I was ok on the tarseal (bitumen) but will never forget that skatey feeling when we rode on gravel roads,put my hands down and pulled the bottom of his jacket up,was hanging on to the chromed tank rack of a pre unit 650 trumpy.Dad used to have a sidecar attached when he was courting mum but i never saw that

Dave if your son does track days on his yamaha r1 he just watched motogp at phillip island? it was hard racing and thanks for reminding me about bsa bantams had one when i was 14,too old and not motivated to ever think of buying another one.How many bikes have you sold that you wish you never had (sold)

when I was 6 or 7 my dad's friend had a Suzuki 90, he would give me rides, I thought we were doing 110, but in reality we were only doing more like 35, I was scared but it was fun,

Bugger off acdc or get yourself a real name like bruce or something.It's an old aussie tradition here to meet people at a party that you've met before but for the life of you,can't remember their first name so you always say 'gidday bruce!' and straight away they know that person is drunk and does'nt have a clue who you are.

Jim i hope you still have the owners manual for the sherpa,reading the spanish to english translation in the handbook was stranger than a mad comic back then.Saito engine manuals can sometimes do that to you too.I reckon specially over a sentence you keep re reading because it's not written in your lingo

Pete, there would be two, no three bikes that I regret selling, and many engines. The 1962 Harley Pacer below was my first new bike I bought. It cost a whole $395.00.

I'm still working on getting a Saito 1.30.

I had a neighbor in New Cumberland, West Virginia who owned a Bultaco 200 MXer, the bike was very fast in it's own right but faster yet because Larry was a smooooth operator. He had moves like a ballet dancer, guitar pickers would call it economy of motion. He appeared to be riding slow but was always in the front.

Bruce i believe they've locked him in a really small dark room,his only light source an old small black and white tv that flickers all the time.He hates motorcycles so maybe there's endless re runs of that motorcycle cop show 'chips' playing,or he's stuck with the test pattern,they can really drive you crazy

Dave that's a beautiful yellow paint job on the harley,nicely detailed and deep.Looking at your pictures always makes you think 'why the hell did i ever race one of those' but that's what we had back then.I miss my old 'waterbottle' (750 suzuki triple) that i rode across australia a few times back in the mid seventies.It was a long way between gas stations then in the outback so you sometimes gambled on getting to the next one.

ps jim find a late sixties gas gas trials bike manual,you'll be in tears of laughter.

My former brother in law had one of the "Water Buffalo's" as we called them, it's the only bike I actually took above 100 mph and it did that in a hurry. I remember how smooth the engine was.

Jim, that color was called Hi Fi red, after all these years I still had the Touch Up paint can for it that, I had never used it. I have a friend in Fredericksburg who is a Harley memorabilia collector, I gave that can to him.
