Dave, I am really glad the 130 turned out good for you, I'm betting it sounded good, BTW, you said you are going to put it in a Stick, well that is what the guy I got it from had it in



on a side note, I do not like the new RCU setup for hopping pages, it's not as easy as popping up to the upper left and bring down the Forum Listings,, I sure wish I can still do that but the site wont allow me to go to the bottom of the Airplane Listings

I still see it across the bottom, it just doesn't move anymore, if I'm understanding this correctly. I'll run the 1.30 some more and fine tune it, I need to alter the throttle linkage so the throttles will close a little more.

The Forum Jump button shows them also.

ps barry a page or two ago the subject of evil handling harleys and other overpowered 70's jap motorcycles came up.Here's a 1975 rickman framed kawasaki z900 powered fix for that problem.Painting it next week or two.

I guess the old saying applies, they shoe horned it in there. When I had my MAICO in the mid 70's, three of my neighbors had Rickman's, one had a 125 and the other two were 250's.

The 125 had a German Zundapp engine and the 250's had Montesa engines.

I still see it across the bottom, it just doesn't move anymore, if I'm understanding this correctly.

yes it does, but the window is so small and it has every page in that little window, so you have to scroll down threw every page, while the one on the upper left just has the categories, the one on the upper left is more efficient /quicker to use, and easier to see,,, I think RCU has it big-wrong there

Go into User CP and options, scroll down and check the infinite scroll box.
Automatically load the next page in a thread by continuing to scroll down when viewing the desktop style
Enable Infinite Scroll Disable Infinite Scroll

I had my son check this out and he said it's not the computer, he said it's the site

I have always been able to scroll down that list until RCU put up that "Forum Jump",, RCU want's us to use it

Just do like I said and disable infinite scroll, it will remove the fixed thing on the bottom and return the page to the way it always was. They must have done an upgrade to the site and use the same software another site I frequent uses.

I have gone threw my list and asked in the "search" box and I do not have "User PC" settings, and when I searched in the box it told me that Windows 10 does not have User PC,, I went threw all settings and the only thing I found was settings for my Mouse but there was nothing to change Scroll settings,,

I see now that the problem is that RCU now has that new boarder at the bottom,,

boy I don't like this setup at all,, try to go back a few pages, it doesn't go back, it just adds more pages at the top of the page you are on, sO, if you go back 5, 6 pages they are all on one page,, that's screwed up !!

Scroll to the top, look for User CP on the left hand side of the blue bar just above the Welcome to Club Saito banner. Click that, then on the left side look for Settings & Options. Fourth down is Edit Options, click that. Now scroll halfway down, Thread Display Options, and the last option at the very bottom of that group is Infinite Scroll. Click disable and scroll all the way down and save it.

Thanks AC and Jim, I just did that myself.

I I just dug out one of my old planes for the Saito 1.30, a Goldberg Tiger 120, I gotta touch up covering here and there. I have couple of digital, (battery hog) servos in it. I am going to swap them for Hitec 425's or some Hitec's with 5 pole motors is I still have them.

I decided to pull an arf off my rack, a P-51 from Great Planes, about as scale as a log canoe imitating a battleship. Looked around and found I used all my Saito engines! Found an OS-70 for it though. I was thinking of using the 52 that I replaced with the FG-11, but found out it requires a 70 4 stroke. Maybe I might find a lighter Saito for it, what would be the best one to look for? Keep in mind it has a 6 or 8 ounce fuel tank. I originally had a 91 in it and it ran 4 minutes before sucking the tank dry.

.72 or is there another one that has better power/weight? Going to Toledo in a few weeks and putting together a list, top of which is Futaba 3010 servos, I had stock piled them for my B-25 and wound up using 4 of them for another plane. Also going to look for some Hitec HS645MG servos.


Oh and welcome for the fix.

Whacked finger
Horizon has the the Saito .82b in stock at the moment.

I just broke in the new old Saito .65 my usual way:
10 minutes each at 4,000, 5,000, 6,000, 7000 and then shots to full blatt.
Saito 65 early with 12.7 to 1 compression
Prop===Xoar 13x6
Fuel===Wildcat 10% with 28% full synthetic
Plug===new Fox Miracle
Exhaust==Saito late revised muffler
Max rpm at full peak 9,990
Idle==an iffy 2,300

I made a painful mistake, with cold fingers I gave the prop a slow flip when it was cooled off some, this a no leak engine, the prop nailed me good. Thankfully it's not cut much.

my God, no way, no way my OS 61 FX would have pulled that Prop with those numbers with the SlimLine Pitts on 20%, no way, and the OS is some 3oz heaver
edit> my OS pulled an APC 12x6 at 10,200 with the Pitts on 20%

Especially cold fingers, if I stated my opinion on APC props I'd get kicked off of here. I used to keep a few for testing only because so many folks only spoke APC but now folks are speaking well,of Xoars and certain Master Airscrews, the S-2's for example. I need to run it next with a TurboHeader it should break 10,300 or so. Clarence Lee got 10,400 with a 13x6 Zinger.

One thing I didn't mention is that with most Saito's the rpm's creep up by 200 to 500 rpm during the 10 minute run at 5,000 rpm. It didn't happen until near the end of the 7,000 rpm run.


You're right my Saito .80 doesn't beat those numbers by much

I'm starting to switch to XOAR myself. Going to start stocking up, and should really put together a list of the most used props for my planes. I just did an inventory in my shop of in progress, built and nearly ready to fly, meaning they need some detailing, or final once over, those ready to fly and those still in sticks and sheets, along with two crunch jobs that I may or may not rebuild, and have 16 down there. I have 5 ready to fly in my trailer too. Each one uses a different size prop too. I think only 2 planes have the same engine.

What works best for speed, and what works best for hovering? I would like to try some different ones this year on my Something Extra and LT-40 to see if I can get more 3d out of them, they are close now, but flop over too easy. One has a Saito 72 the other a Saito FG-11. When I go to Toledo I plan to purchase a few.

on my .60 planes I always used APC, I didn't want to spend money for props because I'm just a sport flyer,,

what I found on that Magnum 180 4St (that I'm happy it's gone) with comparing a Xoar 17x6 and Xoar 17x8 to an APC 17x8W,, read below,,

Plane, Cermark 540 Edge, Span 74",, fuel was Magnum 20% Nitro,,

APC 17x8W, RPM- 8,880,, Plane was Fast but the Prop did not pull that hard at lower RPM,
Xoar 17x6 Sport Prop, RPM- 8.600,, Prop pulled harder than the APC and pulled smoother too,
Xoar 17x8 Sport Prop, RPM- 8,200,, Prop was just too much prop, it wouldn't pull well, it needed more Nitro, (30%) to make this prop work on this engine

once I get both my Saito 100s ready to fly I will have to ask Prop questions

I'm with you bob.Count me in for apc's when it comes to flying performance in saito powered aeroplanes,mind you i'm not a blind stubborn person.Wooden props are great for starting camp fires after a hard days flying.

I use wood props because they are easier on the airframe in an 'unplanned' landing. I'd rather have that energy break a prop than have all that same energy go into the motor mount and firewall. It costs more because one breaks wood props more easily than composite ones (I use most of mine to stir paint, OF :-) ) But when you're gluing a firewall back in it's not much compensation to say to yourself "well, at least I saved the prop".

I bet that starts a controversy here..... :-) :-)

Dought itunplanned flying at low level always ends bad.Use the broken wooden bits to start the camp fire and later add a couple of those real ugly grey graupner plastic props to keep it going.
