After run oil and castor in the fuel?

Don't do it jim, much cheaper, and safer,to go out and buy yourself a motorcycle.Think about it this way...motorcycles don't complain when you go out and ride another motorcycle.

Dave good to see you bought gary's fa90 twin.Good looks and sound,do you have a retro style aeroplane in mind for it?

ps gary i'll look in to that german horex design,i've never heard of that in relation to the yammy xs1 although it's long been known that kawasaki did a job on bsa when they released the w1 650.

Thanks Pete, I was thinking, perhaps too quickly that I'd install it on a Big Stick 60, but I have Bruce Tharpe Flyin King ready cover, that would be a dandy plane for it. I'd have to butcher the cowl cheeks though. That's easily cured by carefully cutting one of them off and making it removable. As in holey cowl cheek Bat Man.

Got my replacement cylinder in 1 day. Now to take it apart, but need to clean up the valves first. The exhaust is gunky.

Hope you bought a new ring too. I used Easy-Off to clean valves that were run in a engine that had burned a castor content fuel. I put the valves in a epoxy cup & bathed them in EO overnight. Worked well.

WD-40 is a poor lube or ARO but it gets used for a couple of things around here. Removing old masking tape and sticky label glue and softening carbon. I spray the junk on and let is soak. Also, a brass brush helps break up the hard stuff followed by more WD-40.
Also, feel the edges of the valve tips for burrs. Remove any burrs with a stone before pushing the valve through the guides. A little buurcan leave a nasty unwanted groove the length of the guide.
I chuck the tip of the stem in a pin vise, twirl the valve back and forth and use red Scotchbrite to scrub the remaining carbon. Avoid Scotchbriting the actual valve seating area of the valve face. Keeping the Scotchbrite wetted with WD-40 helps here too.

BTW, Could be the deal of the day!

Click User CP, (upper left in the blue bar) and then there are a whole lot of options in the left column. I think you can only change your User Name every 6 mos.

Well you know the difference between a Young fart and an old fart? An old fart has had time to ripen!

Shaping and sanding has slowed me way down, my least favorite part of building. Right now I'm coating our drive way, I bought 4 4.75 gallons buckets and they didn't even do half of it.. I'm headed for Lowe;s in Fredericksburg to buy 7 more.

PS, I have about 5 CH Ignition systems, one has 4.8v blackened out on the back, another has 6v blackened out, they each have very hot, fat blue sparks on their respective voltages. Two others have 6v and 7.2 v blackened out, on 6 volts they have very weak anemic sparks, I guess I'll have to get some 6 cell batteries for them.
