Took a look at the new 82 today. They shipped it with the LSN screwed in 2-1/2 turns from flush with the throttle arm and the HSN completely closed. I thought they shipped ready to run rich? Would have been nice to see how rich Saito wants their customers to break in the engine. That's OK for me, I know where it needs to be during break in, LSN very close to flush and at least 3 turns out on the HSN.

See my model of the Brown B2 "Miss Los Angeles", it had a 73" span, I still have it, I have had it some 12 years I would think. it only had 2 flights on it. I bought it built with a Zenoah G38 in it. it flew like crap!!!!! !!!! after the crash we found that the wing didn't have Shear Webbing and the wing flexed terribly. if it hit a cross wind the wing would drop on that side, or if it hit a head wind the nose would drop. and just before it touched down it would pull to the left hard. it needed more engine thrust. but it LOL was beautiful. well the last come-around to land she pulled to the left and I could not get her up fast enough and she hit the high grass. the wing broke all 4 spars on the right side (leading, trailing and both middle spars), the Fuse has been pretty much fixed. and I have all new ribs, but no one here will help me with building the new wing. I don't trust myself to get it built correctly,

to add, the G38 was only enough power to fly it, it really needed more power, LOL I crashed my 82" span GeeBee Y so I have the MVVS 35cc Gasser, and I would have put that in it. anyway but it set's and I am getting sick of looking at it

Glowy all the new saito singles i've bought have been factory set at lsn flush with the plastic arms bottom bevel and hsn about five turns out which is very safe considering a flying tune is under two turns out on the hsn and it's hard to see the brass screw top lsn unless you look straight down the hole.A fact some of our photographers should consider.

Jim thank you for the paint finish compliment and yes i'm the best pilot you ever seen... i agree with gary about scaling plans,bruce is pulling your leg.

Dave glad you got it done and hope you like the sound,it tidies the install up and directs all the oil away from the fuse.Took me an hour to fit the keleo exhaust ring with the help of a small phillips screwdriver on my fa200r3,well worth the effort and the ally quality makes it easy.I'd forgotten all about humming and haaring over whether to fit the adapters first or last till you mentioned it.

Been going thru some old boxes in the storage shed and found a real treasure trove of stuff I had all but forgotten about. Some came from estate sales where I simply hauled the boxes to the shed without even looking inside!
Found quite a few Saito 45s some apart, some together.Probably get rid of that as a batch. Found a lot of O.S. parts, especially Gemini. A pair of brand new cases for the 120II and the 160 Gemini and a few two needle carbs.
Add to that about 20 various Saito engines at home that I decided to turn loose. Looks like I will have to get a table at the Weak Signals Swap in Toledo !

Ok Pete, LSN flush with the bottom bevel of the plastic arm. That's where it is, my bad.

I've only had preowned engines in the past so to break in the rebuilds I've always started with the LSN flush with the outside of the plastic arm, started the engine and turn the LSN in to where the engine would barely run at 4000 rpm without the ignitor. Now thanks to Dave I have the rest of the break in procedure defined.

I have two rebuilds for club members going on right now but I'll fire up the new 82b soon.

There wasn't a " loose" high speed needle you could part with for one of those Geminis is there? I had a builder putting a plane together who passed unfortunately during the build. I couldn't get the needle back he had removed during the cowl cut.

hey Pete, I have only about 30 minutes left, then I got to go. my friends buy all the hot stuff and they end up not eating it and throwing it away, but this stuff has the best flavor and it's not too hot, the small bottle is 5oz, buying it in this 64oz bottle you save 50%, some times the 5oz bottle will last 4 weeks, 5 weeks at the most , if you see it in a store you should try it, it's actually great, try it on a slice of your favorite sharp cheese..

as for Saito, it is time for something new around the ".90 to 120" size

Jim there's a hottest in the world chilli sauce made right here in PERTH that is sold over your way,been featured on tv shows over there,excuse the spelling of the first word,it's called 'shoot the bed'...

Glowy did you mean to say you can wind the HSN needle OUT so that the new engine would barely turn 4000 rpm.The LSN should be left at the factory setting for the first two tank fulls.Running in procedures are not carved in stone tho and some engines are steady at peak rpm after as little as 40 mins.I've had a couple take much longer than that.Gary says he flys his saito's to run them in but i just can't do that to a balsa airframe,the engine vibrates hugely at any rich setting,just watching it guzzle the first tank load while bolted on to the bench at 4000 rpm makes your teeth rattle.
