FA 65 con rod
I have an old FA 65 that I really like. It sat for twenty years and I decided to rebuild it. The bearings and gaskets are easy to get and when I took it apart I found the con rod damaged and the crank shaft bent. I’m a mechanic and got the crank straight. But the con rod needs to be replaced. The original has a brass bushing. I can’t find a replacement crank or rod.
I did find a con rod from the G-K EE part number SAI6510D. Will that work?
The other option is to find an 80 or 65 that has top end damage and buy it for parts. Any suggestions or links to would be greatly appreciated.
I have two FA 80GK engines and they are my go to engine. I love the sound.

LOL God I just love this hobby so much, first I wanted to spend $40-$50 for Dial Calipers, well I found a set, but they looked a bit cheap, so the next day, on I go looking, LOL then as I looked my price goes up to $80, then later the next day I think if I am going to spend $80 I may as well spend $100, funny, then the next day the wife said she will give me $100 to put towards the calipers LOL,, I asked her "why do you love me so much" LOL
LOL so last night I figure if I am going to spend $100 whats $20 more,, right !!.. so I will buy the Dialed ones I posted above, well today I'm thinking well really, "what $20 more", maybe I should just buy the Digital's I posted above for $141, other places are selling them for $40 more, and they are made in Japan,
yes Sir, it's a crazy hobby, cause I'm still not sure what ones I will be better off with, the Dial's for $121, or the Digital's for $141
and don't forget the shipping that will bring up the price of these Dialed ones to $136,,, crazy

Well I know you all are getting tired of me posting airplane pics. But I just can’t stand to see all these engines sitting on a bench. So I am trying to get some in the air for this summer.
Here we have a Sea Gull ARF called a the Maule Super Rocket. With a Saito 100 At 8 pounds it should be a hoot.

I agree with capt's comments on saito engines being flown instead of treating them like hanger queens.My previous ducati was this one,now there's a bike you can stare at for hours in the shed.Probably why most of them still have very low miles.Ok i'll be honest,the seat's like sitting on a rough sawn piece of 8x1 but what a bike to ride.
I reckon keep posting pics of planes with a saito engine fitted,nice install job capt.The maule is another really nice looking tail dragger and with the saito fa100 fitted it's a rocket eg,my 46 size seagull arf decathlon has an fa82 and at just over 7 pounds goes vertical no worries,you got a bull by the tail

The seat on this one was .090" 2024 Aluminum sheet. But I only rode it 1/4 mile at a time.
On the other hand, my first V-Twin Ducati back in 1975 had a marginally more comfortable, padded seat.
This well abused, 6 pound Toledo Special is hauled quite well by an early edition Saito FA-.82.

i have a friend that holds or had the Harley record for a while and he was only on the his for 7 seconds
but boy what I ride. Would love to do that someday

Yeah I loved pulling up next to guys on there big bad Harley’s on the street. That ZX11 would make them go *** was that.

Since we’re showing hangar queens. Here my 2001 Honda VFR Interceptor. Love this bike but hardly had a chance to ride it last year. I may have to sell it. 🤔

Bikes, ya gotta love them !
The muffler body is indeed a YS magnesium casting. It was pretty much trashed on the inlet end when I got it. I TIG welded it up and re-tapped for the Saito at a different angle. The oversize tail piece was machined from aluminum bar stock. The three hole ring from the original YS tail was parted off and bored out. That ring was used to retain the new bar stock tail. Sounds real good too.

I like bikes, but I stopped riding them on the road after my teacher backed out in front of me and I went flying over his trunk, I like flying but that hurt, I also hit the no parking sign. it didn't scare me, I didn't have time to be scared, I just smartened up, I was 18 and I had my fist Nova to drive

Not me, I stayed "stupid". So stupid that I never had an incident like that.
Motorcycles have been my primary transportation,year round for most of my life The only time I took to riding in the four wheel cage would be deep snow or icy conditions. With trips and commuting, 20,000 miles per year is about average. Rain or cold, not an issue. Usually have at least 4 road bikes at any given time I always buy basket cases that need considerable work. Used to get a kick out of the dirt bike riders who ragged on me for riding on the road. They were the ones showing up for work scraped and bruised on Monday morning.If they showed at all.....Then again, bikes do scare me. Been riding for 55 years in constant fear of that first big fall! LOL

66 year biker here, that's 4 years longer than I've been fooling with glow engines, I still have my first glow engine a 1956 McCoy 36. I am just about all Saito now, one OS 56 Alpha left. Of course I have still have many two strokes.

You can tally by the year or by the mile. Main thing is to ride more than drive. My father in law still had 5 motorcycles at 86 and 75 years riding. We did a few thousand mile days together, sure miss him.
I don't do thousand mile days any more but 750 was the best day trip last year.
All four strokes here, YS and Saito. Two strokes are history.

J’TEC muffler
I am putting a FA 80 in a Phoenix Strega. Mk2 I don’t want the muffler hanging out the side. So I put a J’TEC slimline muffler on it. Anyone ever use this muffler? It fit very well and looks good.
I love the motorcycle photos. I am also a biker. I do land speed racing. Bonneville and airport runway one mile racing.

I have a nib Phoenix Strega MK2 arf. It'll be interesting to see how things work out with your FA80.
